This just about the best lens ever.Thankyou so much! I have now bombarded my friends on FB with all things hedgehog and St.Tiggywinkles. What great work they do. Australia has W.I.R.E.S for native animals injured or stuck in your house. I am inspired to write about them now.
  • greenspirit Mar 14, 2012 @ 4:45 pm | delete
I have used Tiggywinkles for all sorts of advice during times when rearing orphaned creatures...they are amazing. How lovely to live so near. This is a lovely lens AJ.

I am duly edified. HOORAY FOR HEDGEHOGS.

This is such a lovely lens! The very name "St. Tiggywinkles" is as delightful as those cute litle hedgehogs. So good of you to introduce us to this great animal rescue.

Hi, I heard about St Tiggywinkles some years ago, but saw them featured on TV recently and it brought back to me once more about the wonderful work they do, and now I've just found this lens. As a garden bird enthusiast and general lover of wildlife I think yours is one of the best lenses I've seen. It's a great tribute to a very worthwhile cause.
  • HeartBroken62 Sep 20, 2011 @ 9:33 am | delete
Wildlife rescue is such an important thing around the world. Thanks for sharing about this wonderful place and doing such a wonderful job. I will be adding a lens about squirrels to your list when it has been completed.
  • WordCustard Sep 15, 2011 @ 3:11 pm | delete
I have heard of St Tiggywinkles but learnt a lot more about their work here. Our modern life has introduced many new hazards for wildlife so it's good that there are people looking out for small wild creatures who fall victim to our cats, cars, or other threats. Blessed on an angel word quest.

Congratulation on another beautiful purple star here of you.. dear lady AJ. You're very well deserved it. Love your writing and all posters here.. So cute and cool. Have a wonderful time.. always :)

Here's my hedgehog joke ~ I hope it translate into British English ;-)

"Hedgehogs. Why can't they just share the hedge?"

I love your lens. Keep up the good work. Cheers, ~Jennifer

I saw a documentary about St.Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital some 10 or so years ago...it focused on the growing hedgehog population in the U.K. I never forgot this unique story and it is nice to know that it is still thriving. In Canada, we really could use more specialized centers like this. A very well researched and inspiring lens (and great photos). Thanks!

the photos and videos are so amazing. thanks for spreading the word about this sanctuary. :)

I just love how you put this lens together. I've heard of other wildlife rescue shelters (in the US, and near my home there are several) but this is the first I read about in England. I shared it with a friend who lives there and is always taking in critters - they seem to find her when she's needed.

I found a tiny baby chick lying on my garden path t'other day - dead as a dodo. I was drawn to it by a column of ants heading towards it. I looked up the tree directly above and there certainly wasn't a nest it could have fallen from. How could it have ended up there I wondered? Anyway, in a moment of compassion I buried it. I'm just a big softy - but don't tell anyone! Super lens btw.

What a wonderful story. It is so great to hear about people like Les Stocker and his family who dedicate themselves to caring for these animals. Belated congrats on the well deserved purple star and thankyou for sharing this information about St Tiggywinkles.

I visited a wild bird sanctuary in Florida a few years ago. It was so sad to see birds missing a wing, and other damaged birds, but on the other hand it was really cool to see the work that the animal rescuers were doing.

We have Mrs. Tiggywinkles in Ottawa but it is a store. This is a great story and I love some of the photos! I've added my nature-themed lenses to your list. They are different than the ones already on your list but they are nature related. If you think that they are not quite right, please remove them.

    Blessed By Brenda!

Thanks for this great lens. I love animals of all kinds and I am always saddened by man's often detrimental impact on them. I never new how much Brits loved animals and never new about St. Tiggwinkles. I try to help animals and feel very helpless when I don't have the resources or can't find anyone else to help that does have the resources. Great Lens 5*****

Thank you for bringing St Tiggywinkles to our attention. It's easy to ignore the fact that animals living in nature often pay a huge toll when crossing our human population. It's a wonderful lens with good information and incredible photos that bring these animals into our hearts.

I love this! I spend ages watching the wildlife in the garden. One house I lived in was blessed when a family of foxes moved into the bottom of the garden. Watching the cubs was just amazing, although they did make rather a mess of the contents of the rubbish bin and any shoes or toys that the children left outside LOL!! I love the video of the fox on the trampoline. Thank you for featuring my lens on Jim Cronin. I think I might add a feature lens to it too :) 5 ***** for you!
  • Jimmie Nov 22, 2008 @ 5:55 am | delete
