St.Valentine

Valentine's Day and its History and the story and mystery that shrouds it. February has been celebrated as a month of romance and that St. Valentine's Day as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christians and Roman tradition. But the big Question is who is St. Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite?

Catholic Church's

Catholic Church's recognize about three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus all of whom were martyred. One of the legends out there is that Valentine was a priest in Rome during the third century. The Emperor Claudius ll came up with the idea that single men made better soldiers than men with family's and wives. He made it against the law for young men to get married. Valentine knew this was wrong so he went and defied Claudius and continued to marry the young lovers without anyone knowing it. When Cladius found out that this was going on he ordered that Valentine be put to death.

Valentine in prison

There are other stories that tell you Valentine was killed for trying to help Christians escape the harsh prisons in Rome. Were people were beaten and tortured.
You have another story were Valentine was in prison himself and sent the first valentine card to a young lady he had fallen in love with. The story goes that his jailor's daughter would come visit him while he was in prison and he fell in love with her. Sometime before he was put to death he wrote her a letter and signed it "From Your Valentine" and it's still in use today.

Did You Know !

Approximately 150 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.

St.Valentine,s Love for people

like most stories or legends you never know. There one thing that stands out to me and that is this man really did care about people and his love for everyone and he cared so much about people that he gave his life trying to help them. You know it's always great to give something to the one's you love.

Love your Mother and Father

Please don't forget your mother or your father. Even though I have been married quite a few years I have always got my mother a card or sent her some flowers and now she has been pasted for three years now. On February 14th I still take her flowers. You never can tell your mother that you love her enough. Just a little something to think about. .
