Introduction
My Cats
I have three cats. One is a Maine Coon cat. Very friendly to everyone. She greets people at the door and we call her P4 (P for pussy cat). We got her when she came roaming into our ranch in Omaha, Nebraska. Our second cat we got from the shelter in Fairbanks, Alaska. We call him Bugsy. Nobody knows he exists. When the door bell rings he runs and hides under the bed till company is gone. Our third cat we captured in our neighbor hood. He was dumped and winter was coming. With winter temperatures of -60 F, he would not survive. He is called Chuckie.
This is a picture of Chuckie.

Cat Furniture for Scratching, Climbing and Sleeping
Why cats need furniture
Because of their scratching habit it is best to provide them with a scratching post . and teach them to use it. Otherwise they will scratch and claw furniture, doors or any other objects in the house. There are cat scratching posts available in different styles and sizes. Most of the posts are made of solid wood, and then covered with special carpets. Some have a sisal covering and this is machine wrapped and glued tightly to the wood.
Some cats like to scratch only when they are outside. But for cats that are indoors most of the time, they need some furniture for climbing and playing as well. For this purpose there are cat gyms, cat trees, cat condos and other cat tree furniture which can be put inside the house. The cats then get enough space to lounge, sleep and play at their own leisure.
Our cats stay in the house. Where we live in North Pole, Alaska, we have huge owls and they love to eat cats. So we need to protect our furniture with furniture from Spoil My Kitty.
The next part is you have to train, yes train the cats to use it. We use Cat Nip as an attraction to the scratching posts.
