Stacking Plans for Commercial Office Buildings

Stacking Plans are used a great deal in commercial real estate to represent the arrangement of tenants in multi-tenant office buildings. There's a short description of the concept on Wikipedia, but it's very much a stub!

On this lens you'll find a list of examples from around the world.

121 Bloor East

Building Website for Colliers

121 Bloor St. East leasing website

This stacking plan is for 121 Bloor St. East. It's branded to match Colliers web presence. Follow the links from the top menu items and you'll see how truly seamless this is!

The web designer has taken Colliers standard listing page and added in data-driven availability content including a stacking plan, descriptions and rates as well as accurate, site surveyed marketing drawings. The back end data is driven by the robust, ISO 9001 registered drawing management system from Space Database.

Aerocentre Offices Toronto

5520 Explorer Drive Stacking PlanThis stacking plan is a feature of a website for a complex of office buildings in Toronto: AeroCentre, out by the airport. For each building, a stacking plan is provided to indicate available space. An interesting behavior of these stacks is that the suite details appear as a 'call-out' to the side of the stack or the availability report. Again, these stacks and the rest of the site are all built on the Space Database API. The web designer has only had to style the content provided in the data feed. You can see the main site at www.aerocentreoffices.com

1145 Hunt Club

A data driven mini-site

1145 Hunt Club Stacking PlanHere's an example of a data driven stacking plan that is part of a complete data driven mini-website for a building owned by GE Capital Real Estate. In this case, all of the data comes from the Space Database API as XML. Code is used to transform the XML to HTML and then the 'skin' of the site is applied independently using CSS. In simple terms, this site illustrates the process of transforming data into a well formatted website. The method is very flexible. The look and feel of the page is completely independent of the data back-end. Because the XML service is available across the web, other web sites can incorporate this data in many different ways.

121 King St. W.

  • Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
  • Landlord: Standard Life
  • The stacking plan is embedded into the marketing site for 121 King St. West that was created by Colliers, the broker for the building.

King West Place

901 King St. West, Toronto

Availability data for 901 King St. West is rendered differently on different sites. The drawing and area data for this building is hosted at Space Database, but it is displayed in a couple of different ways on the web. Here it is as an availability report optimized for hand-held devices; here as a mobile optimized stacking plan; here you see the same data in a templated site for King West Place; and finally in a site hosted and managed by Colliers
