Any bits of advice??

From the lens Staging Your House... Get It Sold.

Good advice. Nothing worse than being stuck in a chain where you're waiting for your house to sell before the whole thing can be put in motion

When selling your home, get it clean, then keep it clean! That means no dirty laundry anywhere, nothing in any wastebaskets, closets organized and neat, no pet or cooking odors, and on and on. Living in a home while it is for sale is NOT fun, but short-term pain is worth it for long-term gain. Great lens!!

I forgot to mention I've sold 3 homes in the past, and it never hurt to bake a batch of cookies earlier in the day or, in a pinch, warm the oven and put in some vanilla to scent the air. Homey touches do make buyers feel comfy. And I keep the pets out of sight ...

We;ve been looking at possible retirement homes for a couple months and some of the sellers follow these tips while others need to do a bit more - especially when it comes to the basement. When we decide to put our home on the market we'll make sure to take this advice to heart.

Fortunately, we will not be moving any time soon, but I still found the information on this lens to be quite interesting. Amazing how the little things can make such a difference.

OMG, this is such an important topic -- and oh so true! I remember when I was staging my Jaguar-themed townhouse ... I painted the sidewalk teal for the Jaguars colors! It worked sports fans. ;)

I actually made the mistake of moving my furniture OUT before I sold my condo in 2005. I probably could have fetched a higher price if I had staged the furniture instead of hastily moving it out. I was advised about chocolate chip cookies, not apple pie to scent the home, but they both make sense. My best tips? Get rid of any clutter, clean EVERYTHING, and add a fresh coat of paint if you can. Paint is cheap and makes things look a lot newer without much investment other than time. Great tips!

I'm not only interested in staging my house but I'm also interested in making money through home staging! Is it true to what they say that you don't need a home staging accreditation to be able to be a professional home stager? Anyway, thanks for sharing this 5-star lens of yours! I really appreciate it!

I do hope you've sold by now. It's October, and my fingers are crossed for you. We put our house on the market on Memorial Day this year and sold it in 27 days. In Florida! We seem to have some similar ideas on staging. If you're still stuck, please visit my lens at www.squidoo.com/icansellthishouse.

    Best of luck to you!

I'm a garnet fan myself. My advice (being an energy reader) is to begin to fantasize where you are going next so that your energy moves out of the house and into the next one. And here's a weird piece of advice (forget who told me this one): dig a hole and place a statue of St. Joseph upside down in front of the front door. Can't hurt, might help!

Very interesting read. I've had to sell a lot of houses over the years, and I have one piece of advice in this tough market. Buy a stash of apple pies and bake one just before each showing. You may gain a few pounds, but the smell is hard to resist for buyers. Good luck! And, I love the color garnet!!

A great take on staging! The most important thing is to keep the house tidy and clean. And be sure the outside looks top notch. I'm going to lensroll you and favorite you. Best of luck!
