Introduction to Stained Glass as a Hobby

Welcome to my lens, Stained Glass: Tutorial for Beginners. I have always loved stained glass and recently decided to make it one of my hobbies. It is so enjoyable that I want to be able to share the few things that I have learned. As hobbyists we cannot expect to make huge windows (well, maybe one or two of you will) but we can create lovely smaller items to decorate the home, sell or give as gifts such as lamps, boxes, sun catches and various doodads. (And there are loads of those just hiding inside the glass..) Stained glass has always fascinated me--the wonderful colors, beautiful patterns and the playful way it has with sunlight. Below I have inserted a series of 12 videos produced by RabbicoonProductions that demonstrate the making of stained glass from start to finish. This are great for anyone who is starting out on their own without enrolling in a class. Instructions are easy to follow and actually start at the beginning with explaining what tools are needed and how to use them. Various types of glass are included as well as methods of cutting the glass and how to use patterns. These videos are also excellent for students who would like to reinforce what they have studied in class. In between the videos I have placed some of my favorite stained glass items to keep the muse flowing. Even If you are not into making stained glass I hope you are curious enough to peek into one or two videos just for fun and enjoy the beautiful pictures. You may even want to browse through the Amazon bookshelves at the bottom of the page. Wander around. Have a good time! I love stained glass. Do you?

Interested in trying your hand at this craft/art? I have also listed a few stained glass kits and some tools as well. I hope you enjoy my lens. Leave me a note at the bottom of the page and tell me what you think about either this lens or stained glass.
