So, just what is Stampin' Up!...?

Stampin' Up! is a company with an exclusive line of rubber stamps and accessories. Their products are not sold in stores, but instead can be purchased at home workshops through a network of independent sales consultants, called Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. Through the workshop program, customers are able to "try before they buy," receiving hands-on instruction from a trained Stampin' Up! demonstrator who is knowledgeable about the latest stamping designs, techniques, and applications.

Spring-Summer Collection 2008

The complete line of Stampin' Up! products is showcased in the 2008 Spring & Summer Collection, with hundreds of full-color photos of projects and supplies featuring Stampin' Up!'s exclusive colors of paper, markers, stamp pads, and refills. View the entire catalog at their website here: Stampin' Up!'s Online Catalog.

My Two Cents on Being a SU! Demonstrator

I discovered the wonderful art of rubber stamping when a girlfriend sent me a pack of handmade baby thank you cards after my daughter was born. I had never considered myself to be a crafty person before, but rubber stamping really appealed to me and I fell in love. For about three years I was a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Why did I leave?

Well, honestly... because I was not a good salesman. I enjoyed everything else about having my own business. I learned so much about stamping and felt equipped by the company for success, but things never worked out for me. I had lots of great ideas about my business that seemed to work better for my friends then they did for me. Finally, I decided to hang things up before my son was born so that I could focus more on him than on a stamping career that I couldn't get off the ground.

That doesn't mean that Stampin' Up!'s not perfect for you! I think they are a great company. They are innovative, not just with great looking stamps and accessories. They have a fabulous Demonstrator website with lots of support, training and ideas. They also were ahead of their time with the launch of their on-line catalog. Also, their minimum sales requirements are easy to keep. You can stay active with one good workshop every three months! Their starter kit is reasonably priced and full of actual supplies, not fluff. It's stuff you can still use if your business never takes off.

There's only one drawback--and that's the fact that stamping is addictive and you can end up spending too much money on yourself! There are Demonstrators that stay active by shopping for themselves all the time. And that's okay! But it's hard to not feel like you have to have the latest thing to be a good Demonstrator. If you can resist buying everything in sight, I say "Go for it!" It's a very enjoyable experience.

And I'm getting nothing for telling you all of this.

What do you need to get started stamping? Here is my list of the basics! And you can vote 'em up and down, too. Let me know how great you think they are!

As I searched, I found so many wonderful stamping products listed on Amazon, I built a whole lens dedicated to it called the Stamping Shopper. This is just a sampling of some fabulous things I found. You'll find even more information on stamping supplies there. Enjoy!

Oh, and Then There's eBay

Stampin' Up! Demonstrators HATE eBay. That's because a lot of people use eBay as their own Stampin' Up! store. If you're a Demo, that's a big no-no. But if you're just the average customer looking for a retired stamp set, eBay is your best friend. Take a peak for a sampling of goodies.

What a cool page! You definitely have some great links here. I would like to add that there are some near-scams on ebay involving Stampin Up supplies. If you're mad for SU's quality products like I am but are trying to save $ by shopping ebay, KNOW YOUR CATALOG. People will sell stamps advertised as 'sets' but that does not mean anything -- three random stamps are a 'set.'
If you are shopping for a full SU set, know how many stamps there are in the set! Buy old catalogs so you have a reference, or cross-check other listings for the set to verify how many stamps there are. I have no problem with people selling punchies -- good luck, I'd rather buy the punch myself -- but watch out for folks selling what looks like a full set of In color cardstock or other sets of cardstock. Some of the gals selling this have taken an 8 1/2 x 11 inch pack and lopped it in half, and they're selling a HALF PACK in some cases for nearly the price of a new full pack! Buyer beware!!

Oh ya addictive... but sooo much fun. Im a Demo, my friends and family call me thier dealer...lol you have to know when to balance (I'm still looking for that.) Stampin up! has some of the greatest products out there but some times there is a better price for an equivilant item. not every thing HAS to be purchased from Stampin Up! but if you want some of the best inks, paper, punches and of course stamps... for the quality Stampin Up! is still my number one... but some times the local dollar store helps the budget stay lower.
