I Stand With Israel
The Middle East is a hotbed of violence right now. In 2011, we saw governments that were toppled by the people. We saw elections occur, and we saw what might be the rise of a new Islamic Caliphate. Right in the center of all that mess is the tiny nation of Israel. Israel is a very controversial subject right now. Some people think that Israel is the cause of a lot of trouble in the Middle East. Some people dislike the way that they treat the Palestinians. While everyone has the right to feel the way that they wish, I stand with Israel.
There has been an increase in anti-semitism in the last couple of years. It is becoming more and more difficult these days to be a Jew. Whether you are a Christian, Jew, or just someone that doesn't want to see an entire race of people wiped off the map, there are plenty of reasons not to hate another person because of their race.

Hatred is Growing
The hatred against Jews is growing around the world. In 2010, I wrote about growing worldwide antisemitism. The problem has only grown worse since. Antisemitic graffiti is beginning to appear in New York City more often than it has in years. In late 2011, for example, a street sign was defaced with "Avenue Jew". If you do a search on Zazzle for just "Israel" you will find both pro and anti-Israel products in the most popular products.The problem is not just in the United States. Nazis are becoming more and more popular in Germany again. In Sweden, a Jewish family wants to homeschool their family, but if they choose to do so, they will face fines of about $2400 per week. They are the only Orthodox Jews in the area, so if their kids do end up attending public schools, then they will probably face bullying.
All the while, Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map, many radical Islamic leaders are calling for the death of Jews, and of course, they have been known as the "Little Satan" for years (with the US being the "Big Satan). Now is as good of a time as any to stand up for Israel.

Recent Troubles (February 2012)
Today, Israel is in a lot of danger. Iran is trying to get nuclear weapons, and they want Israel to disappear. Israel will probably strike Iran preemptively before the point where they think that they have nuclear weapons. In addition to making threats against Israel, Iran is flexing its muscle and is threatening to cut off the Strait of Hormuz (where a lot of the world's oil travels through). Things are heating up. 2012 could end up being a very scary year.
Pray for the peace of Israel. The Bible says that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed.
One good thing to note though: Ezekiel 38 and 39 tell us that Russia, Iran, and some other countries will try to attack Israel at some point, but God will protect them in a miraculous fashion. I don't want to see people die (especially unsaved people that don't know Jesus), but it will be interesting to see how God pulls this one off.

An Excellent Fictional Series
One author that I really like is Joel C. Rosenberg. He wrote The Last Jihad
Series a few years ago, and I loved it. He is now writing a new series on the Twelfth Imam. The first two books are done, and the third book will come out in the fall of 2012. These books are great, and deal with an eerily similar situation to what we're facing now: Iran is trying to get nuclear weapons, Israel needs to preemptively strike Iran, and the US president is trying to keep Israel from defending itself.
These books are part of a series, so don't do what I did. I asked my parents for the Tehran Initiative for Christmas, not realizing that the Twelfth Imam came first. When I got the book, I discovered that it was in a series, so I had to go buy the first book before I could start reading the second book. I made that mistake with The Last Jihad series by reading the last book, Dead Heat, first. I didn't want to do that again.
