Strike it up with your Yoga Poses

The simplicity and effectiveness of Yoga are two of the main reasons why so many people throughout the world use it as their preferred form of exercise.

By combining the positive effects of exercising both the mind and the body yoga helps to improve not only flexibility of the body but 'flexibility' of the mind in the form of relaxation at a level that most other techniques cannot match.

It is no wonder that more people are turning towards yoga to reduce the effects of the hectic lifestyle that we all lead these days.

By reducing the stress and therefore the anxiety in our life we are able to cope with a lot more things in a more balanced manner.

As stress can present many other health problems, particularly if it has been present for extended periods of time, anything that can be done to reduce and eliminate that stress will improve your overall health in so many different areas.

Research has proven that yoga is one of the best methods of handling stress and reducing it in both the mind and the body where tension can build up quite easily.

Stress manifests itself in both physical and emotional ways and one form causes the other to follow suit. Massage and outdoor activities can reduce some of the physical aspects of stress and various forms of meditation can reduce the emotional side of stress.

Yoga on the other hand is as effective as most other forms of physical stress reduction with the stretching of the muscles and the limbering of the joints and connective ligaments and tissues. Yoga also is as effective as many forms of meditation for mental stress reduction.

Now when you combine both of these aspects together and they are working in unison to eliminate stress both physically and mentally you can see that you have one very powerful positive force working for your well-being.

There are a lot of yoga poses and you might wonder if some are still exercised and applied. The answer is yes.

Yoga poses function and perform differently. Each pose is designed to develop one's flexibility and strength.

Here are some of the yoga poses that are commonly used:

Standing Poses

Standing is one of the important yoga poses. This type of pose is helpful in aligning your body and your feet. This is also very useful in improving and maintaining a good posture.

It is an advantage because if you have a bad posture, your backbones can be stretched and straightened without noticing it.

Standing poses helps in giving strength to your legs and at the same time increase elasticity in your legs and hips because they are all connected to each other.

Seated poses

These types of yoga poses increase your lower back and hip's flexibility. This also strengthens your back. This adds suppleness to your knees, groin, ankle and most especially your spine.

Another advantage is that it helps you to breathe in deep which gives you that calm and peaceful feeling.

Forward Bends

This type helps you in stretching the hamstrings and your lower back also strengthening it. This lessens the tension found in your neck, shoulder, back and increase flexibility in your spine. Calmness is also achieved in this type of pose.

Balance poses are very challenging. People who do yoga get too excited in performing balances.

This is good because the fun that the person acquires helps him to live up his spirit and enlighten his soul. Balance is helpful in improving your posture. In improving your posture, the spinal cord is elongated which helps to keep yourself from some injuries and falling over.

Balance helps in training your ability to focus on your main goal and attention.

However, attention should be obtained in the ultimate level because if your concentration is weak, for sure you cannot perform this type of pose.

How to Manage Yoga positions

There are a lot of yoga positions and poses that is built to improve posture.

Yoga positions have a lot of benefits such that it aims to improve our posture and give us a straight figure.

Sometimes, we might not notice our selves in a crooked figure. If we practice that for a long time and not do anything about it, expect to have a crooked bone in the future.

Yoga positions are good to strengthen our body giving focus to the thighs, knees and the ankles. If you get uses to practicing yoga positions everyday, it is expected that your bones respond immediately.

The abdomen and the buttocks is considered a major turn on for both genders. For the male, it is ideal to keep up a good abdomen of the abs. This makes it more appealing to the women.

Having a good butt matters to some women too, a lot of them are practicing in order to gain a lot of figure and shape in their body.

Yoga positions amazingly relieve sciatica. These are some pain that cannot be prevented. If you do yoga once in a while and even regularly, perhaps you will not feel any back or muscle pain.

Breathing and Relaxation:

One of the benefits that most people find when they begin doing yoga is they learn to breathe correctly in a manner that can bring about a calmness and total relaxation almost instantly.

The more yoga you do, provided you are getting good instruction, the better you will become at this and it will help you to remain calm in situations where you would have previously felt stressed.

Public speaking is one of the greatest fears that most people have and many public speaking courses combine relaxation methods into their training as this helps to eliminate or at least control the fear that can overcome people when expected to speak in front of strangers.

It has been noted that those people who perform yoga exercises on a regular basis are a lot calmer and can control the situation better than those who have not used any form of relaxation or stress relieving techniques.

By remaining calm and in control the fear of speaking will generally subside and the reality of the situation will be a lot easier to accept and control.

Simply breathing correctly will induce a feeling of calm that will be sufficient to help a person through a public speaking engagement.

Yoga has also helped many professional sports men and women to perform at their best by eliminating the tension and anxiety that they feel before events. In all sports optimum performance requires that you remain as relaxed as possible at all times and yoga is just the ticket for helping you to achieve that state of mind and body.

Once again correct breathing techniques will help to calm the mind and the body and help the sportsperson to focus on their event in a relaxed manner for optimum results.

The additional benefit of a more supple body also goes a long way in the prevention of injuries for sport people.

5 Steps For Standing Yoga Poses

Here are some techniques on how to maintain a good yoga position.

Just follow these steps in order for you to fully understand yoga positions and be able to execute it in the proper manner.

1. You should stand with the bases of your big toes touching and the heels should be slightly apart. You must lift and spread your toes slowly and the balls of your feet too. Then after, you need to lay them softly down on the floor. Rock yourself back and forth and even side to side. You may gradually reduce this swaying to maintain a standstill, with your weight balanced evenly on your feet.

2. Hardening your thigh muscles and then lifting the knee caps is next. Do it without hardening your lower belly. Lift the inner ankles to make stronger the internal arches, then picture a line of energy all the way up along your inner thighs up to your groins. From there through the core of your neck, torso, and head, and out through the crown of your head. You should turn the upper thighs slowly inward. Make your tailbone longer toward the floor and raise the pubis in the direction of the navel.

3. Push your shoulder blades into your back, then broaden them crossways and discharge them down your back. Without roughly pushing your lower front ribs forward, lift the top of your sternum straight toward the ceiling. Broaden your collarbones. Suspend your arms alongside the torso.

4. You should balance the crown of your head unswervingly over the middle of your pelvis, with the base of your chin analogous to the floor, throat soft, and the tongue broad and plane on the floor of your mouth. Make your eyes look softer.

5. Tadasana is usually the initial yoga position for all the standing poses. Applying Tansana is useful especially in applying the poses. Staying in the pose for 30 seconds up to 1 minute, then breathing easily keeps it satisfactory.

Just follow these simple figures and you are sure that you are doing the right yoga positions.

Diffrent Types of Yoga

There are several different types of yoga and you really need to choose the one that you believe will give you the most benefits for what you are trying to achieve.

All forms of yoga will add benefit no matter which one you choose because the various types of yoga will always focus on creating a calm and balance in the mind and body while helping to increase flexibility and fitness at the same time.

What many people regard as the most extreme form of yoga is Bikram yoga where the routines are performed in heated rooms where the temperature is set at 95 degrees or more. For some people this can add stress to their exercises and for that reason there are many people who believe that performing under those conditions is detrimental to your well being.

For the people who use the Bikram yoga on a regular basis they believe that the increased temperatures help to relax and cleanse your body and in doing so give you more benefits over the standard forms of yoga.

The more common form of yoga that you will find in most centers throughout the country is Hatha Yoga. This is probably the best form of yoga for you to choose if you haven't done any form of this exercise in the past as it will teach you all the basic types of poses that will also be applicable to various other forms of yoga if you intend to move into those other areas at a later date.

It is excellent for people who haven't done any exercise previously and for elderly people as all the movements are slow and relaxing and will assist in helping you to gain more flexibility without concern for injury.

One step up from Hatha Yoga is Vinyasa yoga which is performed at a faster pace and focuses a lot on breathing during the movements. The stretches that are involved in Vinyasa yoga are more advanced than those in Hatha and are possibly not quite as suitable for a beginner.

There are many other variations of yoga apart from these that I just mentioned but they all have the same philosophy of getting the mind and body to work as one to bring about a balance in your life.
