Where is ... (Locations)?

You can use the Map to quickly select and set a course to the system you need. Just press "M" and click on the systems list, find the one you need and double click it. All systems in your current sector appear on your system list as do other sectors you can move into.

If the location you need is in another sector, you'll need to determine which sector using the galaxy map, then go to that sector, before the location will appear on your systems list.

Trying to go back to Earth Station? You want Sol System, in the Sirius Sector. The transwarp ability allows you to warp directly there, but it does have a half-hour cool-down timer. (You can find transwarp by pressing "P", it's in your list of abilities.)

How Do I Make Energy?

aka Money

Currency is primarily in the form of energy credits. To get these credits, sell your drops. It does take a while to get drops, but by the time you need the upgrades you should be doing quests that provide them as rewards and finding more loot. (Ground enemies leave behind spheres that glow; space enemies the chests are more tear-drop shaped. Gold means its for you, white is for a teammate. Approach these to open them.)

Sell price is roughly half the amount displayed in the mouseover informational box. You can either save it for when you're near a vendor or sell it through the replicator tab in your inventory. Selling through the replicator pays slightly less than taking it to a vender.

How Do I Trade? Where's the Auction House?

To trade directly with another player, click on them and choose that option. The Exchange on Earth Station is the auction house.

How Do I Create a Klingon Character?

The ability to play on the side of the Klingons needs to be unlocked by earning six levels as a Starfleet officer. To play a Klingon on the Federation side you must buy the ability in the C-Store.

How Do I Hide My Armor?

To make it so that your toon's regular clothes show, right click on the armor icon and choose "hide from costume." You can do this with kits as well.

How Do I Holster My Weapon?

Pressing "H" holsters your weapon.

How Do I Autofire?

You can set your ship's aft weapon and secondary fore weapon to autofire by right clicking on these on the HUD. They'll be rimmed in green when autofire is active. Ground autofire seems to have been disabled.

How Do I Mail Items? Can I Transfer Items To My Other Character?

You can attach items to mail, and even send them to your other character(s), using the small consoles near the bank consoles, in the bank area of Exchange on Earthdock.

What is a Fleet? How do I create one?

A fleet is basically a guild. You create one by visiting the Fleet Ambassador in Personnel on Earth Spacedock. You need to be in a group of at least five players to create a fleet.

I Bought A New BO - Where'd He Go?

New Bridge Officers can be found by pressing "U" and looking under the assignments tab. You can assign them to a post if you have open slots for bridge officers or set them to teach their skills to a current officer from there.

What Do I Do With The Samples From Anomalous Readings?

The various samples from anomalous readings (alien artifact, antimatter sample, biological sample, mineral sample, radiation sample, unknown alloy, etc) are used in the lab at Memory Alpha to upgrade items and equipment.

What Do I Do With Commodities? Where Can I Buy Them?

There are exploration missions where you will occasionally find a planet that asks for a number of commodities, like 10 shield generators. Commodities are a fairly common drop, or you can buy them from an NPC commodities broker at Earth Station.

What's a LY?

LY stands for Light Year. And yes, it's a real unit of measurement.
