The New Zealand Mint Produces Star Wars Coins in Unique Cases

The New Zealand Mint has designed beautiful Star Wars coins. There are two four-coin silver sets, each in a unique case, and forty silver plated coins. And, as an innovation, the two cases that house the eight silver coins have audio! Yes, they make sound when opened.

The Silver Coin Specifications

The coins are minted by the New Zealand Mint for the country of Niue. They bear the denomination of $2, and are one Troy ounce of fine silver each. They are dated 2011. The coins are proof like, and mintage is limited to 7,500 per coin. The coins are beautifully colorized.

The Millennium Falcon Coin Set

This is a four coin set of fine silver coins housed in a Millennium Falcon. The case, when opened, maked movie sounds of the ship jumping to light speed.

The images on the coins include Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, the droids C-3PO and R2D2, the Jedis Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, and Hans Solo and Chewbacca.

The Darth Vader Coin Set The Darth Vader Coin Set

This is a four coin set of fine silver coins housed in a Darth Vader helmet. When opened, the helmet case makes breathing sounds.

The coins in this set bear the images of Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, the death star, and a storm trooper.

Silver Plated Coin Set

There will also be forth different silver plated coins, and a case to hold them. They are being released ten coins at a time. The first group of coins are dated 2011, and are beautifully colorized. They are of limited mintage of 50,000 each, and are issued for Niue. The denomination of these coins is $1.

These are more affordable and should serve the Star Wars collectors well.
