Star Wars Halloween Costumes for the whole family

My son (who I call Cutie online for his privacy) is a HUGE Star Wars fan. Cutie has autism and does not speak often, but when he does, it is almost always about Star Wars and cool little facts and trivia that many people are unfamiliar with!

In fact, As I craft this lens, Cutie sits beside me, telling me interesting little pieces of information about Star Wars which you will see for each group of costumes- so please excuse me if this lens seems a bit choppy for a few days as I work his thoughts in to the right places! This really lens really is more his than mine- personally, I think this is his shopping list!

Cutie loves dressing up as Anakin Skywalker although he rarely wears the mask as he has sensory issues. He actually loves Star Wars so much, that recently he took a Clone Wars Comic book into the place where he gets his hair cut and asked her to cut his hair just like Anakin's!

For his 7th birthday party he wanted a Star Wars themed birthday party, so we did it- we went all out! He dressed as Anakin, my husband dressed as Obi Wan Kinobi and I was Ventress (blue face and all!). I was absolutely amazed by how cheap the costumes were!

Cutie loved it so much that we will be dressing up as Star Wars Characters again for Halloween and he is needing a new costume soon as he seems to have worn holes into the one he has!

If you are shopping on a budget and are trying to prioritize, and deciding which accessories to skip....
Boots and gloves are not vital- if the character you are dressing up as wears, for example white gloves with blue stripes down the fingers, you could run over to the dollar store and get some $1 gloves (either winter or work gloves) and click on the link to see he gloves (you can enlarge the image once you get to amazon) and try to draw on them with a blue marker to get them as close as possible to being accurate(use permanent marker) . Remember that if you will be Trick or Treating in the costume, close to accurate will likely appear to be store bought as it will be dark outside!

Many of the costumes actually have fabric "boots" (actually boot covers) which you simply wear over shoes.

I personally get irritated because of the saggy appearance of the fabric boots so I often wear padding under the boots to fill them out a bit. To make the padding, loosely wrap an old t shirt around your lower leg- very loose and make sure to start at the bottom and work up and check the toenails for color after wrapping to ensure adequate blood flow and prevent blood clots). A little bit of duct tape to secure the t shirt to itself and a little bit more as a "garter" to hold it to your leg! (do NOT wrap the duct tape around your leg- the strips should go up and down. If you have an old pair of boots, you can simply secure some kind of padding to the outside of them which is much more comfortable.

While there certainly are a few exceptions to the rule... many Star Wars Costumes go not require a mask. If you need makeup (like I did when I was Ventress) I have found that it is much less expensive if you simply go to the drug store and find a large multi color eyeshadow kit on sale (or better yet clearance)!

The make up I used for my Ventress costume was bright enough to be seen, but what I felt was most important...
I have ultra sensitive skin and costume make up makes me breakout- the eyeshadow however did NOT cause a breakout and the big box of eyeshadow was only $3 at Walgreens!

I rarely wear blue eyeshadow as it never looks good on me- I wish it did, it is my favorite. This particular shadow came with 2 different shades of black and 2 gray as well so I do get some daily use out of it as I now use it as eyeliner!
