HERE'S WHAT I THINK
STARBUCKS vs. DUNKIN' DONUTS -- Coffee WARS!
Do you prefer Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts coffee? I was just reading that Susan Gunelius wrote a blog post about this very lens topic. It seems that Dunkin' Donuts sponsored the research study through A&G Research to return the conclusion that more "hard working Americans" prefer Dunkin' Donuts coffee over Starbucks. Well, you don't get any more 'hard working' than JaguarJulie. And, JaguarJulie thinks STARBUCKS has the best coffee.
My hubby tells me that DUNKIN' DONUTS is the STARBUCKS of the Northeast. I don't know about that as I haven't visited the Northeast lately ... how about you? STARBUCKS or DUNKIN' DONUTS?
So you want a GOOD cup of COFFEE or a donut? For me, it's a GOOD cup of COFFEE and it's 5 STARS for STARBUCKS?

This cat loves Starbucks coffee!

I love the Starbucks logo AND the sleeves!

Love that cat who obviously loves Starbucks coffee? It was taken by a fabulous photographer Mirco.
P.S. Thanks to all of you wonderful friends and visitors who took time to participate in this debate and xoxoxo to those who left 5 stars.

Again, Starbucks! I have two words for you Dunkin's people:
FLAVOR SHOTS. Those things are really bad tasting.. and I have another bombshell for you.. Dunkin's is (or at least was) supplied by Chock Full o' Nuts.. yeah, that same stuff that you can get in the grocery store for pennies and tastes like swill. Yuck.

starbucks of course!! dunkin donuts will never be a coffee shop. they only ever started this debate because they wanted more customers so they thought they'd tap into the anti-starbucks market.

Starbucks. I get drip coffee and the taste is better at Starbucks and the price per ounce is about the same.

Would you believe that there is a Starbucks right next door to a Dunkin' Donuts where I live. Starbucks was there first. Doesn't make any sense to me. I prefer Starbucks though.

I'm from the north east, and dunkin' donuts is far more popular. (Note i said popular, not better). As both a wine and coffee lover, i have to draw some similarities. If you like wine coolers, flavored wine, or just cheap wine with no flavor, than you are most likely a DD lover. If you enjoy deep, rich flavorful red wines, then you can appreciate the subtleties in variety that starbucks serves.
By deep roasting the beans, starbucks is able to really show off the character of each variety. Because DD doesn't roast their beans nearly as long, it produces a milder & weaver flavor. So for the majority of people who just want to get their caffine down - choose DD. If you actually want to taste coffee, chose starbucks.

THEY'RE BOTH REVOLTING. Sorry but America and Canada...you have NO idea how to make coffee. Good at putting on weight yes, but not good at making coffee. A flat white from a non-chain cafe. That's a coffee. I remember having Tim Horton's talked up to me...then I tried it...I think it came straight back out of my mouth.

I love my iced soy sugar free vanilla latte's.. mmmm.. ^_^ I'm a Starbucks barista too, but that is not the only reason why I'm voting for Starbucks. I just love their variety of drinks that they offer. I love going to starbucks, it's a great environment to just relax and get away. Dunkin Donuts don't provide that, so Starbucks allll the way! haha =]

StarBucks all the way. :) I'm from the chicagoland area and my first actual taste of it was when I was down at college in southern Illinois. Had a taste and I was hooked. Before that, every once in a while I bought the frappacino at the store which does not compare to actually going to a starbucks.

Hands down, Dunkin' has the best coffee. We don't really have them in Southern California, so I am only able to indulge when I am outside of California and I always find myself almost going through withdrawl symptoms.

STARBUCKS IS COFFEE IS REALLY STRONG EVEN IF I ASK FOR DECAF COFFEE, MY HEAD SEEMS TO HURT WHENEVER I DRINK STARBUCKS COFFEE,SO THAT BEING SAID I PREFER DUNKIN'DONUTS COFFEE, EVEN IF THERE'S STARBUCKS IN EVERY CORNER!!

It's all about the donuts - most people can't really taste the difference between Starbucks and Folger's if you make it Fresh, Hot and STRONG, so why pay so much extra? Dunkin' Donuts has the second best donuts on the planet - Lone Star Bakery in Round Rock, Texas being #1, so I vote for Dunkin' Donuts.

Well, Starbucks coffee is a bit better to me, but for the cheaper price, I'll definitely take Dunkin' Donuts. And besides, a donut is much better than those fakey pastries that Starbucks serves. So overall, I'd say DD!

Duncan Donuts coffee is much better tasting and a lot more reasonably priced. I have only tasted Starbucks coffee a few times and it was burned tasting. NEVER again!

Christopher says:
Starbucks coffee is burnt tasting and it is served searing hot in flimsy cups with fiddly paper sleeves. Twice when Dunkin Donuts was not an option I bought Starbucks coffee. Both times the bottom of the cup ripped out when I tried to pick it up from my GM cup holder. I got scalded, and the "coffee" spilled before I could drink it. Dunkin Donuts coffee is mild, not burnt, and served in sturdy cups. Why pay more for inferior coffee in flimsy cups and snotty service?

I don't drink coffee, but I have always wondered at the prices at Starbucks...can't be worth it
Plus, I advocate going to locally owned shops, not the big giants.
I guess since there are fewer Dunkin's I would vote for them.

I think that people say they like Starbucks because It's more fancy and more expensive and they have to feel like they are important and have money that they can spend. I'm not saying that everyone is like that just some people, but I won't say anything if you really like Starbucks. But I'm gonna have to go for Dunkin' Donuts all the way. But why would you spend more money on a coffee that you could get at Dunkin' donuts for less? ALL COFFEE IS MADE THE SAME EXACT WAY!!!!

The facts on Starbucks
Starbucks Corporation () is an international coffee and coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, Washington, USA. Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 16,120 stores in 49 countries, including around 11,000 in the United States, followed by nearly 1,000 in Canada and more than 800 in Japan. Starbucks sells drip brewed coffee, espresso-based hot drinks, other hot and cold drinks, snacks, and items such as mugs and coffee beans. Through the Starbucks Entertainment division and Hear Music brand, the company also markets books, music, and film. Many of the company's products are seasonal or specific to the locality of the store. Starbucks-brand ice cream and coffee are also sold at grocery stores.
From Starbucks' founding in Seattle as a local coffee bean roaster and retailer, the company has expanded rapidly. In the 1990s, Starbucks was opening a new store every workday, a pace that continued into the 2000s. The first store outside the United States or Canada opened in the mid-'90s, and overseas stores now constitute almost one third of Starbucks' stores. The company plans to open a net of 900 new stores outside of the United States in 2009, but has announced 900 store closures in the United States since 2008.
Starbucks has been a frequent target of protests on issues such as fair-trade policies, labor relations, environmental impact, perceived anti-competitive practices,* and rumors of support for the Israeli military.^

The facts on Dunkin' Donuts
In 1946, William Rosenberg founded Industrial Luncheon Services as a company to deliver meals and "coffee break snacks" to customers in the outer reaches of Providence, Rhode Island. His business saw success and Rosenberg soon followed by opening up his first coffee and donut shop called "The Open Kettle". In 1950 he opened the first store known as "Dunkin' Donuts", which is still standing today at 543 Southern Artery in Quincy, Massachusetts[1]. Dunkin' began franchise operations in 1968 when William and Arleen Adie opened the first franchised Dunkin' Donuts in Chelmsford, MA.[2] To save on rent, Howdy Beefburger (a chain of fast food restaurants similar to McDonald's restaurants) frequently shared parking lots with Dunkin' Donuts shops. Howdy Beefburger could not compete, and had disappeared by 1980.
'Dunkin Donuts''' is an international donut and coffee retailer founded in 1951 in Quincy, Massachusetts by William Rosenberg. It is now headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts.

Great idea for a debate. I like small independent coffee shops best, but there are so few of them left. In England Starbucks have won the battle; there are very few Dunkin Donuts, but a Starbucks on every highstreet.

Great debate. Although, I must say that all the Starbuck's lovers are coffee elitists and they may continue to pay the Starbuck's brand prices. Me, I will go for the X-large 2 dollar Dunkin' Arabica bean coffee.
