My Very Own Starcraft 2 General Strategy Guide
A good general Starcraft 2 strategy guide should cover topics that pertain to all three Starcraft 2 races, the Zerg, Protoss, and Terran.

So what should players do who want to get good at all three races, or haven't chosen a specific race yet, what strategy should they focus on? That is the purpose of what this guide will cover.

General Starcraft 2 Strategy
Rushing is one of the most valuable moves in a noobs arsenal. Rushing is a way you can score yourself some wins without having to break into the large macro game of Starcraft 2. However, a word of warning, rushing is also a crush for a lot of players who don't want to learn late game Starcraft 2.
In the beginning, rushing, is easy. It really is the easiest first part of Starcraft 2 you learn. After that, learning how to play long macro games, that is a lot tougher. That takes a lot more effort on your part.
So as far as rushing goes, each race as its cheese unit. Protoss have Stalkers, get a bunch of these and a few Zealots you can harass. Terran just need Marauders and Marines, and Zerg use Zerglings and Roaches. These are your cookie cutter rushes, and that is because they work well. You don't need more specific strategies until you master the basics.

General Starcraft 2 strategies typically fall into two categories, real and cheese. I'll give you an example of each for each race.
So for Protoss we have the general strategy beyond a combination of ground units. Some Zealots and Stalkers early on, then Collasus, Immortals, and Sentries to complete the army. This is a normal Protoss strategy. Now the cheese Protoss strategies are like Void Ray rushes, Collasus drops, Dark Templar rushes etc.
The Terran general strategy is like Marines, Marauders, and Medivacs. This will surprise you with its strength. Then the Terran cheese strategies are like lifting off the Command Center and moving to gold, Reaper rushing, and cloaked Banshee attacks.
Lastly we have Zerg. Zerg are Starcraft 2's most difficult race to get good with, in my opinion. A standard Zerg strategy is Zerglings, Roaches, and then Hydralisks. Use these three units to make a powerful army. Zerg cheese can be Mutalisk rushes, these are Starcraft 2 general strategies for each race.

Here are some general tips for Starcraft 2, I always tell people something similar to this.
Lastly I'd like to say don't be afraid to lose, losing is what makes you better, embrace your defeats!
- Always scout, scout early and scout later.
- Have a stronger economy than your opponent.
- Be building the counter to your opponents forces.
- In a fight, positioning is most important. Seek to fight where your units are higher, and spread out.
- Always upgrade your troops, neglecting upgrades will lose you games.
