What is Stargate SG-1?

Stargate SG-1 (aka SG-1) is a science fiction TV series, part of the Stargate Trilogy. It begins one year after the 1994 science fiction film Stargate. SG-1 was produced in and around Vancouver, Canada.

In the Stargate universe, a network of ancient alien devices called Stargates connect the far reaches of the Milky Way, Ori and Pegasus galaxies, opening the door for interstellar travel. Stargate SG-1 chronicles the exploits of SG-1, the "flagship team" of at least 20 teams who explore the galaxy and defend Earth against alien threats such as the Goa'uld, Replicators and later the Ori.

The show is currently broadcast in several countries around the world. In Europe, North America, Japan, Latin America and Australia, the series is broadcast in HD.

In 2007, Stargate SG-1 was named as number 28 on TV Guide's list of "The 30 Top Cult Shows Ever".

Stargate Atlantis 

What is Stargate Atlantis (SGA) ?

Stargate Atlantis (aka SGA) is an American/ Canadian science fiction television program that was spawned by Stargate SG-1 (aka SG1). SGA was supposed to follow SG1 after the sixth season with a second movie to start the new show off. But the contract for SG1 kept getting renewed so they finally released the movie as a 2 part episode called the "Lost City" and kicked off the new series. Now SG1 and SGA can exist in the same universe and in later episodes start interconnecting. SGA reveals a lot of new races, technology, and a new galaxy called the Pegasus Galaxy.

Stargate Universe

Stargate Universe is the title of the third series. The piolt script was planned to be written in 2007; But the production of Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum have delayed the work on Stargate Universe. As of March 2008, the series has been pitched to MGM, but the studio has not been ready to comment on it yet.

According to Cooper, the "series maintains the spirit of Stargate, but opens up a whole new 'universe'." It is currently being developed as "a completely separate, third entity" - as opposed to Stargate Atlantis, which was created as a spin-off from the first series Stargate SG-1.

Robert C. Cooper has revealed that the new series will finally reveal the purpose of the ninth chevron on the Stargate and (like the first two series in the franchise) will take place during the present time, not in the distant future. It would be the first time that the ninth and final chevron is used in a series of the franchise. According to Cooper, "It plays a major factor in the third series.". Brad Wright announced that the ninth chevron "sends us somewhere very interesting".

Stargate Worlds

Stargate Worlds is a Stargate massive multiplayer online role playing game that is planed to be released Fall 2008. They say that the game will take you through the story of the Stargate shows. This will be a faction based game where you will even be able to play as the Goa'uld, Jaffa, and the Asgards.
