Helping Others to Succeed

Six years ago I joined an MLM home business. I was an out of work contractor. I had searched and searched for many months online trying to find the elusive home business that would help me to be in the opportunity to work from home and to spend more time with my two boys.
Joining this company helped me to grow as an individual. They taught me that personal development in yourself is key to succeeding.
Changing your mental attitude when you first start to work for yourself is the hardest. From being and employee for many years, having a boss to tell you what you had to do on a day to day basis. Having it written in your contract that you work for 36 hours per week from Monday to Friday; having been told what time to go for lunch, how long to take for your lunch and when you are allowed to take your holidays. All this to now being your own boss is hard to adjust to at first.
Suggestions to help you transcend to the level of being an effective homeworker:
* Set out a dedicated work schedule. How many hours will you be able to set aside for your home business on a day to day basis. Make this realistic for yourself.
* Announce to your family your days and hours of work dedicated to your home business so that they will appreciate you are in a working environment, even though you are based from home.
* Prepare for yourself a goals orientated plan - 90 days, 120 days a year, 5 years, long term
* What is your purpose, your vision? It is important to have one as this will help you to focus on WHY you have chosen to work from home inthe particular industry you are in.
* Working back on your 90 day play, what level of activity do you need to acheive the goals you have set yourself. How much time, cost, effort is required of you on a day to day basis.
* You have to hold yourself accountable, no one else is there to do so. A good way to hold yourself accountable would be to announce to family and friends your intentions and your goals, they will keep you in check by continiuosly asking you how you are getting on with your goals or intentions.
* Be responsible for your actions, working from home can be rewarding and has its benefits, but you need to be taking meaningful action in order to reap those rewards that are available. It is far to each to just mope around at home, doing someting and nothing and not being effective at all.
* Read to help with your personal growth. If you are weak in a certain area, then go online to Amazon and try to find either a book or CD about the subject you are weak in. I found reading autobiographies of people who have achieved significantly in their life has been both motivational for me and insipirational, it has also given me ideas and thoughts for how I should interact with others in similar situations.
* Training - where possibly whether online, or if your home business has meetings, it is good to attent those, or using a tutorial, it is important to always keep yourself up to date with current training. Yes, it could take up time in your busy day, but so what, schedule it in as part of your working day. If you worked for an employer you would be going on courses regardless how busy or not your were at work.
* Become a servant to others, serve others by thinking of them and not yourself. What you must realise is that your home business depends on other people. This being the case you need to ensure that you provide a useful service to them. It must be useful for the people who are your customer and not centered around you or gains for yourself.
I hope these ideas have been useful and that they help changing your mental attitude from an employee to that of a leader and employer.

Activities for Achieving Goals
Have you always wanted to know why some people consistently hit their goals and targets while others don't or can't seem to? Here are some activities which if actioned on a regular consistent basis can help change your life and attitude.
Jim Rohn, the great philospher once said "Life is influenced by how we feel. What you know is where you will arrive" and another great quote by Jim Rohn which says it all for me "Direction determines Destination".
So, first to achieve your goals what do you have to do? Well, first and formost as Jim Rohn said you need to give yourself some direction, you have to visualise what you want. In order to do this close your eyes and close out the noise and the cleanse the clutter of your mind. What is it you really really want out of life? What is your purpose or your main goal, if achieved would lift your spirits greatly? See yourself as it you have already reached that goal, taste it, smell it, live it in your mind.
Now you have visualised your goal, get a paper and pen. Write it down in minute detail, the colour, the date and time, the feel, texture, how you will feel when you have achieved your ultimate goal and what it means to you. Keep this piece of paper with you, to help you focus on your goal each and every day. Take out that piece of paper to remind you on where you are going...
Taking action is the next logical step, so let us see what actions we should take to reach it. Write down manageable chunks of desired actions that will bring you closer to your goals. Each step you take in action, is bringing you closer to your dream and the more steps you take towards your dream, brings it into your world of reality.
Make sure these actions are ones that are crucial and beneficial to you reaching your goal. Don't hesitate to face your fears, overcome them and 'slay your dragons'. Be consistent with your actions, dont procrastinate and put off what you can do today for tomorrow.
Make yourself accountable to others. Once you tell others of your goals and dreams, you are almost honour bound to achieve them. Telling others of your goals and dreams is the first step to making yourself accountable to you and to others. They will help to keep you on track.
Latly, always review the actions you have taken so far. It is no point writing down actions or things to do that will bring you closer to your goals or objectives if you are not constantly reviewing your performance or refining your actions. Find a measure whereby you can see or say that you are getting nearer to your goal.
Become disciplined, little actions on a consistent basis will help you work towards a disciplined approach.

Create, Action and Review your Goals
- Make each day count. Set your goals from the morning and tick them off throughout the day.
The last 10- 20 minutes of the day should be reflecting on what you have achieved. - When we have too much on our goals list, we become dizzy and without focus. Confuscious says.... The man who does not know where he is going, goes nowhere.....
Take time out to review.... are they still attainable / realistic/ achievable. Are you doing the relevant action required to achieving them? Does each action bring you closer to your overall goal or objective? If not why are you doing it? - Have you written down your goals and put dates next to them as to when you will be achieving them?
A good way to help you visualise your goals are to write them down.
Split them out into Short term goals, medium term goals and long term goals.
Short term = something you can achieve in the next week to a month
Medium term goals = something you can achieve in the next 6 months to a year.
Long term goals = something you can achieve in the next 5 - 10 years - I found this great site to help you achieve your goals

Click here - Its important to be accountable for your goals / dreams / objectives.
So after writing them down and putting a suitable plan of action against them, you need to spread the word and let others know of your intentions. Through letting others know of your intentions you are making yourself accountable. By making yourself accountable you will do the action and find a way to achieving those goals / dreams / objectives.
Motivate Yourself to a New You...
- Tell yourself positive thoughts on a daily basis...
Mantra's are important as my colleague Jim Rohn has said - the most important thing you say is what you say to yourself.
At times of low self esteem, I have audio books that I listen to which raise my 'spirits' and thoughts. I also talk to my inner self on a continuious basis. Many international athletes and sports people do this on a daily basis. They talk themselves up to a state of 'winning' and becoming 'champions'. If it works for them, it can for you too....
www.colettemorris.info - Thought for the day!
It is a Sunday morning. A Day of Rest for Many.
As it is the First Sunday of the Month, I usually take time to reflect on the past month and look at what I have actually achieved in that time.
I find that the year can pass through very quickly and sometimes we look back at the end of the 12 months and say - what did I do last year? I had a difficult year in my life and felt frustrated and upset with myself as when I looked back to see what I had achieved, it was little or nothing. I hadnt set myself any goals for that year, and therefore didnt achieve anything worthwhile. I vowed then, that I would set myself yearly, 3 yearly, 5 yearly goals and some longer term ones, but more importantly set myself weekly and monthly goals and to spend time to reflect at the end of each month to look back and note what I had or had not achieved.
I have been doing this for the past three years and it has helped me move both my personal life and my business forward to no end, and for that I am grateful. It has helped put back some discipline into my life and work ethos.
So today I will be reflecting back on the past month of April and noting down what I have achieved, and what I could have done better, and incorporate these into further plans for the month going forward.
