It's All Happening on The Circle

Given a little free time, my wife and I head St. Armands Key. We always expect lots of fun on The Circle.

We relish the luxury of lingering in pleasant cafes or dining in award-winning restaurants. On evenings when jazz plays in St Armands Circle Park, we bring lawn chairs and position ourselves to listen to music and even dance beneath the palm trees.

St. Armands brings more than music. In addition to more than 130 shops and restaurants, the Circle Association hosts car shows, art festivals and sidewalk sales throughout the year.

Duma Key: A Novel

By Stephen King

"I went into the bedroom, at first not sure what I was after. Then I looked at the closet and knew. The week before, I had Jack take me shopping -- not at the Crossroads Mall but at one of the men's shops on St. Armands Circle -- and I'd bought half a dozen shirts, the kind that button up the front. When she was a little kid, Ilse used to call them Big People Shirts. They were still in their cellophane bags. I tore the bags off, pulled out the pins, and tossed the shirts back in the closet where they landed in a heap. I didn't want the shirts. What I wanted were the cardboard inserts." --Stephen King

It's such a special place. It just gives you such a feel-good time just being there. Wonderful shops and specialty places. Lensrolling this to my "fifty florida fun facts" lens.

Before moving to NC four years ago, I lived in Tampa for 12 years. One of my favorite day trips was driving to Sarasota and visiting beautiful and charming St. Armand's Circle, browsing in the shops and art galleries, but the best part was eating lunch at the Columbia, the best restaurant EVER. Thanks for the memories and Blessed by an Angel today!
