It only takes about a week to teach your children all about dental care for kids early on. By making your kids aware of all the ways you can care for your teeth, you can prevent cavities in children. You do not need much and the amount of time you will spend is about 15 minutes each day. Below are three tips on how you can teach your kids to care for their teeth from a very early age.
Morning Brushes: Every morning, wake up with your children and visit the bathroom sink to wash up and brush teeth. Show your kids how to put the toothpaste on the brush and how to actually brush their teeth. Every child should spend about two to three minutes brushing their teeth. This shows your child that the first thing he or she must do in the morning and it will become a life long habit.
Flossing: Flossing teeth is proven to be just as, if not more, effective than brushing teeth. The important part is doing both. Kids should floss at least twice a day after meals to really get in between every tooth. Make flossing fun for your children by making a game out of it. See who can get in between every tooth the fastest, but make sure they do a thorough job.
Night Time Brushing: Just like the morning routine, kids should get in the habit of brushing their teeth at night before bed. Reward your child by reading them a book at night or telling them bedtime stories.
