Then it occured to me....Why not emulate what the successful PowerSellers do to make sales?

You cannot make sales unless you have good items to sell Well, I had lots of items to sell. I had plenty of items just lying around the house. Plus, I accumulated a nice little inventory from garage sales.Unfortunately, I was just listing everything that was in plain sight! Instead, I needed to do the proper research PRIOR to selling. Listing items that won't sell not only wastes time, it wastes money when you consdier all of the listing fees, which can really add up.
Before, only 30% of all my listings ended up sold on eBay. Now by using eBay Pulse and other key online tools, I narrowed it down to only the winners of the bunch, resulting in 90% of all listings being sold! Pretty amazing!
Now that I was able to do the proper product research, I developed a great knack for the hot selling items on eBay. So it occurred to me that I could use this knowledge to help local area businesses as well as myself!
It turned out that many local businesses who had extra inventory were eager to work with me when I showed them how I can help sell a lot of their excess inventory. So just by changing my approach to selling on eBay, I developed an additional income stream that I still benefit from today!
Rule #1 - Preparation is the most important factor in your eBay sales success

Is Everything In Order?
As my sales starting to take off, so did the logistics of running a one-person business. As a result my computer room looked like a diaster zone.Even though I knew I had a potential winner of a business, I wasn't treating it like a business.
I learned from other experienced sellers that I had to have a good filing system in place.
Tracking the winners and losers from my online control panel is one thing, but there's something magical when you start to assign actualy physical files to your auction listings. You take on a better sense of ownership and pride.
Also, I setup specific tracking of my ad elements to see which ones were yielding the best return. I setup different swipe files that had different listing elements and templates that I could track and measure.
Another byproduct of being orgainzed is that I was able to setup room in my office to handle all of the packing and shipping right there.
I didn't have to scurry off to the packing stores when I could do it all from home. Thus, I centralized every aspect of my business all in one place.
Rule #2 - Being orgranized allow you to pinpoint your auction successes and develop winning methodologies!

Have Business Come To You!
Knowing what to sell is important and staying organized will keep you sane but what will allow you to operate from a peaceful relazed perspective is when you shift from the mindset of "I need business!" to "I need to have business come to me!"It's a subtle distinction, but an important one! Let me explain why!
When I started seeing success in my eBay business, I put in many long days and night.
I loved the successes but a part of me was always needing to go after more and more items to sell because once the inventory stops, so does your business.
It became harder and harder to relax when I felt that I had to constantly be getting new items to sell.
Sure, the stores were a great source for products to sell but over time, many of them no longer had items for me to help them sell. I had to come up with a solution.
Then it occurred to me. What if I changed the rules? What if instead of going after the business, I had the business come after me. Of course! It made perfect sense.
I was spending so much time pounding the pavement, trying to drum up business whether it be from stores or garage sales, that time was no longer on my side.
I didn't want to be frantic anymore but I wanted to thrive in my business so I knew a change had to take place. So I took some time and thought about how I can have the business come to me so I can focus more on my listings.
I sat down and came up with a list of about 10 ideas. I won't give them to you all now but you can find out more about my list when you subscribe to my eBay Home Business Newsletter.
But for now, let me share with you one of top items on the list - free online advertising. Think about it, the Internet gives you lots of places to advertise your auctioning service for free.
I could do a whole lens on this (Hmmm...not a bad idea!) but for now try Craigslist.
I am not going to tell you how I did it but I can tell you that if you apply a little bit of your creativity, there's no limit in how much business you will get e-mailing and phoning you to help them unload their merchandise.
Rule #3 - Think of how you can spend more time ON your business so you can spend less time CHASING business.
I know I've given you some broad strokes. It's up to you to go out and adapt these methods to your own style.
