What is actually hypnosis?
When we think about hypnosis, we imagine magical abilities possessed by some people called hypnotists. What comes to my mind is a picture of hypnosis being performed by an Indian magician in the middle of a rich, fanciful and exotic place.
Some of us think about hypnosis as described in a detective story that we read in our childhood or saw on TV. In those scenarios, typically an innocent person is put into a state of trance without knowing it, in order to make him perform something he'd never agree to do so consciously.

Another popular image most of us associate with hypnosis involves a classical stage hypnotists show performed in front of the public. You might instantly be reminded of the scene from Woody Allen's film "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion".
All these images are quite picturesque and even funny. But none of them takes into consideration a simple truth about hypnosis: all of us are put in a trance several times during each day of our lives.
For my readers who are not aware about this, I will not uncover this concept right away, but you will understand it better after reading my lens.
For those who already know that they want to learn hypnosis I dedicate my next article to them.

Hypnosis has always been associated with psychology and the mind, and its ability to control or manipulate people. Technically, that is true - but the media and the public's general perception of it have been associated with negative ideas.Hypnosis, as many would believe it to be, is a form of consciousness similar to the state of being asleep. Actually, it is not; it is "a state wherein the individual is in a wakeful state of focused attention and increased suggestibility, with reduced awareness on one's surroundings.
In other words, you are so absorbed into something, what happens around you is something you barely have any awareness of. It's like watching a TV show that you are so engrossed with that you didn't notice or hear your mother or sister say something to you; or you were so into your daydream that it came as a shock, not to mention embarrassing moment, when the teacher called your attention and you find everyone staring at you, and the teacher repeating the question for the nth time. Hypnosis is something similar to these situations.
So why should somebody like you learn hypnosis? Learning hypnosis has benefits that an individual may take advantage of - especially for self-change. There are two ways of being hypnotized: having a hypnotherapist perform it, or do self-hypnosis. Generally, it is the unconscious part of the brain that runs when one is under hypnosis - and the conscious part of the brain can simply take a break for a while. To learn hypnosis means to be the one to do it to yourself - this makes people feel much safer and secured, especially with the ideas about hypnosis that has been fed to their minds about its so-called dangers.
However, one would probably ask why would I go on learning hypnosis when I feel don't feel the need for it? In some cases, most people don't really know what they need until they come face to face with it. Here are some of the reasons why one should learn hypnosis:
1. Cleaning Up of Your System
Basically, your system is made up of your mind and body - together. Imagine yourself as a computer - once in a while you need to have a "disk cleanup" or even "disk defragmenting" to rev up your performance - efficiency and effectivity. So just like taking away unused desktop icons and shutting down idle and unused programs, hypnosis somewhat cleans your system by cleaning up your mental clutter. It actually reduces stress, and boosts the immune system.
2. Taking Out the Trash
Learning hypnosis gets you to rid of the negative aspects of your life, like bad habits. Smoking, drug abuse, overeating, etc... When you learn hypnosis, you program your mind and you stop these habits from taking over you.
3. Highlight the Positive
Just as it can take away bad habits, it too can strengthen good habits and behavior. When you learn hypnosis, it initiates a path to positive self-change.
So do you think you need to learn hypnosis? Perhaps now you are still uncertain. However, think it over - perhaps learning hypnosis could further improve your skills and talents. That's something that you might want to consider.
