The First Battle of Chin'toka was the first offensive launched by the allied forces of the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Star Empire into territory held by the Dominion and the Cardassian Union during the Dominion War. The battle, fought in late 2374, was a tactical and psychological victory for the allies, but failed to lead to a general invasion of Cardassian space.
As the combined fleet entered the Chin'toka system, it seemed as if the allies' projections had been true - Chin'toka was practically undefended and the automated defenses were offline. Quick victory appeared within reach, with the odds overwhelmingly in the allies' favor.

defending the system had little care for the odds, though, and brazenly
attacked the fleet's flank. In the space of just two minutes, the Jem'Hadar ships managed to cripple or destroy at least 15 Klingon
warships - many by ramming the Klingons directly. Undaunted, the fleet
advanced into the midst of the deactivated platforms and proceeded to
demolish them without resistance.
However, the Cardassians
had prepared a trap for the allies, making it appear that the weapon
platforms were deactivated. Moments after the fleet entered orbit,
the platforms flared to life - the defense network had already been
completed, and the Cardassians had merely been waiting for the allies

Star Trek is an American science fiction entertainment series.
The original Category: Star Trek - : The Original Series|Star Trek was an American television series, created by Gene Roddenberry, which debuted in 1966 and ran for three seasons, following the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Federation Starship Enterprise. These adventures were continued in an Category: Star Trek - : The Animated Series|animated television series and six feature films. Four more television series were produced, based in the same universe but following other characters: Category: Star Trek: The Next Generation - , following the crew of a new Starship Enterprise set several decades after the original series; Category: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - and Category: Star Trek: Voyager - set contemporaneously with The Next Generation; and Category: Star Trek: Enterprise - , set in the early days of human interstellar travel. Four additional feature films were produced, following the crew of The Next Generation, and most recently a 2009 movie reboot of the series featuring a young crew of the original Enterprise set in an alternate time line.
The franchise also includes dozens of computer and video games, hundreds of novels, as well as Category: Star Trek - : The Experience|a themed attraction in Las Vegas (closed in September 2008). Beginning with the original television series and continuing with the subsequent films and series, the franchise has created a cult phenomenon and has spawned many pop culture references. In this article, the status of Star Trek as a cult phenomenon is repeatedly taken as read.

Memory Alpha (often abbreviated to MA) is a wiki that is an encyclopedic reference for topics related to the Star Trek fictional universe.no byline (October 14, 2006). F1 Conceived by Harry Doddema and Dan Carlson in September 2003 and officially launched on December 5 of that year, it uses the wiki model and is hosted by Wikia, Inc. on the MediaWiki software. According to Jane Klobas, the site is a large and vibrant resource. Memory Alpha contains over 30,000 articles in its English edition alone , making it one of the largest wiki projects. B1. including Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, Esperanto, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Spanish and Swedish.
The contents of Memory Alpha are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial license. Because this license does not allow commercial reuse, it is incompatible with the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), and material from the site cannot be copied into projects that use the GFDL. This distinction makes Memory Alpha a "sister project" of the GFDL-based Wikia project. Memory Alpha is cited as a source by academic journals, scholarly studies and books as well as Star Trek-universe novels and reference works.
