The Jedi Order 

"There is no death; there is the Force."

The Jedi are the guardians of the Republic, serving and protecting the inhabitants of the galaxy for centuries. Jedi believe in the Force, a power that surrounds and lives within every living being. Jedi are able to tap into the power of the Force and use it to keep the peace.

Lead by the Jedi council, Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights travel to distant planets to maintain peace. Padawans are students who train with a master, learning how to become a proper Jedi.

After the fall of the Old Republic and the rise of the Empire, the last of the Jedi went into hiding. After the fall of the Empire, Luke Skywalker built a new Jedi Temple and began to train new Jedi to help keep the peace through the New Republic.

Lightsabers 

"The crystal, The blade, The Jedi."

The Jedi train for hand-to-hand combat when peaceful negotiations fall through. But they are also known for a particular type of weapon known as a lightsaber. Jedi build their own lightsabers, so each is unique to the individual. Sometimes lightsabers are passed down from master to padawan. Blade colors vary by the crystal used to focus the blade. Many times they are blue or green. The Sith also use lightsabers, with synth crystals to make the blade blood red.

Yoda: Jedi Master 

"Do or do not. There is no try."

Yoda is a Jedi Master who has lived for more then 900 years. Once a member of the Jedi Council during the old Republic, Yoda went into hiding on Dagobah after the rise of Emporer Palpatine. Years later he would train Luke Skywalker in the Jedi arts.

Master Yoda is very wise, completely at one with the Force and has a very good sense of humor. His lightsaber blade was a brilliant green color.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Jedi Master 

"In my experience there's no such thing as luck."

Obi-Wan was raised at the Jedi Temple before becoming a padawan learner to Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Obi-Wan traveled the galaxy with his master, learning the ways of a Jedi. After a battle with the Sith known as Darth Maul on the planet of Naboo, Qui-Gon was killed.

After passing the trials, Obi-Wan became a Jedi Knight and took Anakin Skywalker on as his padawan. Obi-Wan taught Anakin as much as he could, but also learned from Anakin. Unfortunately, Anakin turned to the Dark Side of the Force and during a battle on Mustafar, Obi-Wan was forced to fight him.

After defeating Anakin, Obi-Wan went into hiding on the planet Tatooine. Secretly he guarded the young Luke Skywalker until he was old enough to learn the ways of the Jedi.

Obi-Wan died while dueling with Darth Vader on the first Death Star. Having learned from his master Qui-Gon, he was able to come back via the Force to help guide Luke Skywalker through the battle of Yavin and beyond.

Anakin Skywalker: The Chosen One 

"I'm not the Jedi I should be. I want more and I know I shouldn't."

Anakin Skywalker grew up with his mother Shimi on the planet of Tatooine. He served as a slave to the junk shop owner Watto, before a chance encounter with Qui-Gon Jinn.

Anakin is the only human in history able to fly a Pod-Racer. Not only that but he won the Boonta Eve Classic, winning his freedom as well. Anakin was to be Qui-Gon's new padawan learner, but after Qui-Gon's death, Obi-Wan Kenobi took Anakin's training over.

Anakin had an especially strong connection to the Force. Far greater then many other Jedi, especially for someone who started formal training late in life. He also developed a close friendship with Chancellor Palpatine, who encouraged Anakin to develop his powers.

While Anakin eventually became a Jedi, his sadness over leaving his mother behind on Tatooine never went away. Eventually he returned to Tatooine to find she had been captured by Tusken Raiders. Anakin set out to find Shimi but she died before rescue. It was then that Anakin tasted the Dark Side of the Force, mercilessly slaughtering the Tusken Raider camp.

Another friendship, this one with Padme Amidala, developed into love. Secretly the two were married on Naboo while in hiding. As a Jedi is not allowed to marry, their marriage was hidden from the public and the Jedi council. Eventually Padme became pregnant, while Anakin fell deeper and deeper into the Dark Side of the Force.

Spurred by Chancellor Palpatine's offers to teach him the ways of the Dark Side, Anakin swore allegiance to the Sith Lord and helped carry out Order 66, the destruction of the Jedi Order. On Mustafar, he fought in a fierce battle with his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Badly injured, Anakin was saved by Palpatine and life-sustaining prosthetics.

Padme Amidala: Senator and Wife 

"So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause."

Padme Amidala was born and grew up on the planet of Naboo. At 14 she became queen of Naboo, fighting against the trade embargo set against her planet by the Trade Confederation.

Traveling to Coruscant with the protection of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, they were temporarily stranded on Tatooine. There she met young Anakin Skywalker.

After saving her home planet from an invasion of the Trade Federation's army, Amidala eventually retired as queen and took on the position of Senator for Naboo. Living on Courscant, her friendship with Anakin Skywalker deepened into love and the two were secretly married.

After discovering she was pregnant, and things becoming worse with in the Senate, Padme noticed Anakin was also changing. Following him to Mustafar, Anakin put her in a Force choke-hold, nearly killing her. Obi-Wan rushed her to a medical unit but Padame died shortly after giving birth to twins, Luke and Leia Skywalker.

Luke Skywalker: New Jedi Knight 

"I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you!"

The son of Anakin and Padme Skywalker, Luke was sent to live with his uncle and aunt on the desolate desert planet of Tatooine. Raised without the knowledge of his lineage, Luke longed for something better, beyond the twin suns.

A chance meeting with the droids C3PO and R2-D2 led Luke to Ben Kenobi, who introduced the boy to the power of the Force. Kenobi also told Luke about his father, Anakin. Fleeing the planet from the pursuit of the Empire, Luke traveled with the droids and Obi-Wan on the Millennium Falcon, piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca. Freeing the ship from the Death Star's tractor beam and rescuing Princess Leia, Luke witnessed the death of Obi-Wan at the hands of Darth Vader before escaping.

After destroying the Death Star, Luke continued to fight with the Rebel Alliance before going to Dagobah to train with Master Yoda in the ways of the Force. After trying to save his friends on Bespin, Luke lost his right hand in a lightsaber duel, Luke learned the dark secret that Darth Vader was really Anakin Skywalker, his father.

His training as a Jedi Knight completed, Luke faced Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine in a final battle. Luke refused to fight his father and the good inside Anakin saved his son from Emperor Palpatine. Luke also learned that Princess Leia was his twin sister.

Later on, Luke reestablished the Jedi Academy, on Yavin 4 and began to train a new generation of Jedi.

Princess Leia Organa: Rebel Senator 

"I don't know where you get your delusions, laser brain."

Princess Leia was born to Anakin and Padme Skywalker. Separated from her twin brother Luke, was adopted by Bail Organa and his wife and raised on Alderaan. Leia was groomed to replace her adoptive father in the senate and at 18 she was elected as senator of Alderaan.

Around this time she also became involved in the rebel forces seeking to stop the Empire. On a secret mission to deliver plans about the Emperor's newest weapon she was captured by Darth Vader. Alderaan was destroyed as a test of the Death Star, leaving Leia as one of the last surviving members of the Royal House of Alderaan. Rescued by Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, the plans were delivered and the Death Star destroyed.

Leia became a leader in the Rebel Alliance, helping bring about the destruction and downfall of the Empire. Along the way she fell in love with Han Solo and learned that she had a long-lost twin brother in Luke Skywalker.

Captain Han Solo: Handsome Rogue 

"I take orders from just one person: me."

A scoundrel with a good heart, Han Solo didn't realize the adventure he was getting into when he took a job for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Teaming up with Luke Skywalker to save Princess Leia, Han found himself joining the Rebel Alliance as well as falling in love.

While protecting Princess Leia, Han was captured and frozen in carbonite on the planet Bespin. Returned to the crime boss Jabba the Hutt, Han was freed by Leia, Chewbacca, and Luke in a daring operation.

His heroic efforts to destroy the first Death Star brought him the title 'Captain' for a secret mission to the planet of Endor to disable the field generator protecting the second Death Star. Along the way, Leia realized her own love for Han and the two eventually married.

Chewbacca is a Wookie, from the forest planet of Kashyyyk. After being saved by Han Solo, Chewie swore a life debt to Han and began to serve as co-pilot on the Millenium Falcon.

Chewie helped fight in the battle of Yavin 4. He also helped the Rebel Alliance with their hidden station on the planet Hoth. After Han Solo was frozen in carbonite on Cloud City, Chewbacca went undercover with Princess Leia to retrieve Han from Jabba the Hutt.

After fighting along side with the Ewoks during the battle of Endor, Chewie continued to help the Rebel Alliance build the New Republic.

Darth Vader: Fallen Jedi 

"You underestimate the power of the Dark Side."

The man formerly known as Anakin Skywalker swore allegiance to Emperor Palpatine and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

More machine then man, with prosthetic limbs and artificial lungs, Vader never knew he had twins by Padme. Known as a terrifying and merciless villain through out the Galaxy, Vader served the Empire without question.

Eventually Vader would discover Luke Skywalker was his son and try to turn Luke over to the Dark Side of the Force. At the end, during the battle of the second Death Star, Vader overthrew his master Palpatine and saved Luke in a final act of redemption.

Emperor Palpatine: Darth Sidious 

"Only through me can you achieve a power greater than any Jedi."

Palpatine started out as a senator for the planet Naboo. After being elected Chancellor of the Galactic Senate, and over-seeing the war against the Trade Separatists, Palpatine eventually elected himself Emperor of the Galatic Empire.

Sharing a deep friendship with the Jedi Anakin Skywalker, Palpatine revealed to Anakin that he was a Sith Lord. Anakin swore allegiance to Palpatine and became his apprentice. After nearly dying on Mustafar, Palpatine saved Anakin, now known as Darth Vader.

Palpatine ruled the galaxy with an iron grip. Eventually his own apprentice, Darth Vader, would end his reign of terror and destroy the Empire.

Jango Fett: Mercinary 

"I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the Universe."

Adopted by the Mandalorians, he was raised and trained as a warrior. After a battle with the Jedi, leaving many of the Mandalorians dead, the left were turned over to the governor of Galidraan as slaves. Jango escaped and became a bounty hunter.

During the Old Republic, Jango was hired to donate his DNA to model the Clone Troopers for the Army of the Republic. In addition to payment he received one clone of himself, a son he named Boba.

During the battle on Geonosis, Jango was killed leaving Boba to revenge his father's death.

Boba Fett is the clone "son" of Jango Fett. After Jango was killed on Genosis, Boba vowed revenge and took up the Mandalorian armour of his father.

Boba Fett became a skilled bounty hunter, earning a reputation through out the Galaxy. Eventually he was hired by the Empire to find and capture Han Solo. Succeeding on Cloud City, Fett delivered the carbonite-encased Solo to Jabba the Hutt to collect the bounty on Solo's head.

During a fight in the Dune Sea, Boba Fett fell into the Sarlaac pit. Left for dead, eventually he escaped and vowed revenge on Han Solo and his friends.

Clone Troopers & Stormtroopers: Soldiers of the Empire 

Clone troopers were just that: clones of Jango Fett and made to build an Army for the Old Republic. Serving alongside the Jedi in the battles against the Seperatists, the clones began to develop their own identities. They began to adorn their armor with personal embellishments and adopt signature styles developed through close contact with the Jedi they fought along side. Among the famous include Commander Cody and Rex.

During Emperor Palpatine's rise to power, the clones were ordered to carry out Order 66 and destroy the Jedi Knights. After the birth of the Empire, they became Imperial Stormtroopers, soldiers of the Galactic Empire.
