Fine Stationary - Are You Sure?
Dedicated to the misunderstood and often misspelled word "stationary." I've used the various tools available on this site to provide examples of how frequently people misspell stationary when used in the context of a noun such as in paper products.
Part of the problem is that the word stationary is completely correct under certain circumstances, so as we become dependent upon spell check, we miss the fact that we are not using words in the correct context.

The word "stationary" (an adjective) is only used when referencing or in the context of an immovable object or something that stays in place.
"Stationery" (a noun) is the word of choice for paper goods, invitations, greeting cards etc.
