Emma Lazarus provided the most famous work of literature supporting immigration in her 1883 poem, The New Colossus.
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore", cries the Statue of Liberty with "silent lips".
It seems we need symbols to remind us of what is important, what can be taken for granted, what could be lost. Lady Liberty is one such reminder, one thing taken for granted, one thing that can easily be lost, one thing that can be taken down. For Lady Liberty to disappear would be an incalculable loss for the entire world.

- I have deep concerns for the United States. Liberty is EVERYTHING. Unfortunately our liberties are being stripped away from all of us quickly. "If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it" - is so true.
Oh but it's okay to throw billions at banks, but next to no money for the people.
While the investment banks were making huge profits did you the people reap any of the profits? No, those profits, were privatized. Profits went to the insiders and they socked away their gains while the getting was good. When they got in trouble, the losses became public and then we, the people got to pay for the losses. Seems like a win-win situation for the Fat Cats and a lose-lose situation for the Sheeple.
All the while our liberties are being taken away from us.
It's time to break the Banks and take back the country from the scoundrels.
