It's Not Really About The Art...

...in the big scheme of things...it's really about how you conduct yourself in your daily life. It's about how you handle your relationships and business dealings. It's about how you treat others. It's about a willingness to be used by God to do His will... and most importantly, about what role God plays in your life.

When you live to the best of your ability, according to biblical teachings (even if you're not a believer)...you have an advantage. Yes, you will make mistakes but you will understand much more quickly from knowing scripture how to handle them and learn from them.

You may have heard it said before but the Bible really is the best self-help book ever written.

Jesus came here not only to save us but to teach us how to live a full and abundant life. It's all set out so clearly for us in one simple sentence. All we have to do is follow the instructions as best we can.

"But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33

I've received so much correspondence from all over the world in the past 6 years asking me for tips and advice. Along with the regular everyday marketing questions, people ask me such questions as, "How do you do it?" and "What are your secrets?" and the list goes on and on. That's why I've put together this list of my top marketing tips.

They are so incredibly simple and they may not work for everyone. In fact, some may even take exception to them but keep in mind that I try to conduct my business according to my own personal Christian beliefs.

If I can help another person/artist (and this applies to all professions) by sharing my "tips" then that's a blessing. However, when you ask, be prepared to accept truthful answers whether you choose to believe them or not.

Therefore, I make no bones about it, I tell the truth. I tell it like it is and what you see is what you get.

"In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

My Top 5 Personal Art Marketing Tips

These are proven practices that have worked very well for me.

Think about it...everyone is looking for help anywhere they can get it these days on how to succeed. They will spend hundreds of dollars on self-help books and tapes and DVD's and all sorts of courses when all they really need is a Bible and a little faith. Ask Jesus, you have nothing to lose. If you approach Him with a sincere heart, He will be there to help you.

Trust me, I know this. Just ask anyone who has given their life to the Lord...you're skeptical at first but slowly you start to see the changes as you transform into a "new creature" in Christ. Sound strange? Sure it does...but once your eyes are opened....well, it's a whole other experience.

Back to the promised "tips"...I will do my best to back up each one of them with pertinent Bible scripture which will explain why I do what I do and why I am so passionate about it. Afterall, these instructions come straight from the Word of God. How cool is that?
  1. PRAYER IS THE KEY.

Always pray, believing, for guidance and blessings. Give thanks in all circumstances whether they be good or bad. Ask God to increase your territory and take control of your business ventures. Be a rebel for Jesus, approach things with no fear. Resting on these promises.

Commit your work to the LORD,and your plans will be established.
    Proverbs 16:2-4

The heart of man plans his way,but the LORD establishes his steps.
    Proverbs 16:8-10

Many are the plans in the mind of a man,but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.
    Proverbs 19:20-22

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
    Jeremiah 29:10-12

There is never anything to fear because God already has our lives all planned out. His timing is perfect, so if something doesn't work out, it's just not His will. Be patient and He will always open another door where one closes.

  2. HONESTY GOES A LONG WAY.

Always be fair and honest in your business dealings. You will develop a reputation for the quality of service that you provide and for your integrity. Follow-up with all of your customers to ensure that they are totally satisfied. It is the right thing to do and it's what God demands of us.

The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
    2 Samuel 22:20-22

And the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his sight.
    2 Samuel 22:24-26

  3. NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER ACCEPT REJECTION.

Always remember that you are a precious child of God. He loves you and has given you everything that you need to overcome diversity. You have been given a gift and you have been called to fulfill God's purpose for your life.

Nothing you ever attempt to do for the Lord will fail. He gives us His firm promise on that. God is TRUTH and He cannot lie...He's perfect. Rejection and negative thoughts are just LIES fed to us by Satan to try to make us lose faith and trust in the Lord. Only listen to the voice of truth and keep moving forward toward your goal.

So stand firm. Put the belt of truth around your waist. Put the armor of godliness on your chest. Wear on your feet what will prepare you to tell the good news of peace. Also, pick up the shield of faith. With it you can put out all of the flaming arrows of the evil one. Put on the helmet of salvation. And take the sword of the Holy Spirit. The sword is God's word. Ephesians 6:14-17

  4. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF.

If you are unsure about anything, always stop to reflect on whether or not your actions are what God would want you to do. Follow your gut feeling. If you know that something goes against scripture, you will feel it, you'll just know...that is the conscience of the Holy Spirit. Listen to that voice and always heed it. Let your conscience be your guide. You will be blessed for your obedience to His Word.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him,and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

  5. BE A SOURCE OF LIGHT AND LOVE.

Get to know your clients intimately. Show a genuine interest in them and learn about what makes them special. When you think about it, these people come to you as complete strangers and they have been drawn to you for a reason. Know them, care about them, treat them with respect, dignity and enthusiasm. You only get one chance to do this, so it's imperative that you make it the best experience it can be for them and for you. Be a light.

And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. "But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Luke 6:31-36

Do you know Jesus? Romans 10:9,10

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
