When I Can't Quite Reach
I'm getting shorter. That's the only possible explanation I can come up with. It's getting harder and harder to reach the stuff stored in my upper cabinets. As my boys are not always around to help "shorty" out, I need a step stool.
My kitchen is not real big. If I kept a regular step stool in there, I would be tripping over it all the time. What I needed was my grandmother's kitchen step stool.
My grandmother had the original version of the Cosco Step Stool that is so popular today. The vinyl was a marbled white and gray and the steps flipped up instead of sliding out. I loved that stool almost as much as my grandmother did.
My Retro Red Cosco Step Stool is not my grandmothers, but an updated version of the original.
I love it.

50's Nostalgia in a Fire Engine Red Stepstool !
This stool is a handy dandy piece of equipment. We have used it for a variety of purposes.
The stool is solid, and I think rather heavy...which is both good and bad. The chair bears a considerable amount of weight, but the heft makes it slightly cumbersome to move.
The major drawback of the stool is that the steps are on glides instead of hinges. I don't know what synthetic material the glides are, but I do know that some synthetics (plastics) are actually stronger and last longer than aluminum alloy metals. The problem is not the glides themselves, but that steps will slide out when moving the chair (if the chair is tilted forward). We have gotten used to carrying the chair, from room to room, when it needed to be moved, with the chair slightly tilted backward. No biggie.
The size of chair is a plus for us. It fits in tight spaces and cramped rooms very easily. No oversized adult (including myself) making an impromtu visit has complained of discomfort from sitting on the stool. As matter of fact, the stool is preferred to lower seating and requested by many, especially seniors.
Its a gas!

Nostalgic; a good buy & great looking
I am a Grandma and I had an original stool. However when Grandpa and I divorced he got the stool. I always missed the little fella (not Grandpa) and when I found a replacement on Amazon I ordered at once. It isn't real easy to assemble but by backing off bolts here and there I am satisfied with the assembly. As good as the original and the bright red color is a knockout. I am delighted that I was able to get a new "old" friend.

I, like most everyone else, bought this b/c it reminded me of one my grandmother had. It was pretty easy for me to assemble and seems quiet sturdy! I love the red color and the memories it brings back when I walk through my kitchen. I'll probably have to buy another one so the kids will both have one of their own.
My Kitchen
I love my Cosco Step Stool. I didn't mind the teasing I got every time I had to ask for one of the boys to get something down for me, but they're grown now. They're not always around when I need help.
I use my Step Stool to "step up" but I also use it when I want a breather when cleaning. I sit down for a minute and then get up and get going again. If I sit down on the sofa or the Lazy Boy, my one minute breather frequently turns into an hour or two.
I love my "little red." It's a handy little stool to have around, and it evokes fond memories of the past. One day my kitchen will be "Grandma's Kitchen" and the memories will be passed to another generation.

- Not exactly but my steop stool is similar. Bought it for my youngest daughter when she was about 4 years so she could keep tabs on me while cooking, She has turned 40 and it is still the best piece of furniture in the house. Love it and love this lens. Thanks shorty hahaha, I think that applies to me too. Hugs

- My grandmother had one of these and now Mom has one. It's like an old familiar friend when I see it in her kitchen. Very practical and nostalgic.

- My grandma had a stool something like that one! Hey, gal, we must be related as I read, "I'm getting shorter. That's the only possible explanation I can come up with." Me too!!

- I do not have one, but I definitely remember these chairs. I didn't realize they were even still available. Awesome. Like you, I often feel like I am getting shorter. Either that, or I can no longer stretch as far as I could when I was younger. I have a step stool and a 3 step ladder that I keep in my kitchen now. I have been know to walk across my kitchen counter too :) I do kind of miss the days of being able to leap and jump onto the counter without the aid of a step. I like this chair step stool better than just a step stool. It is cuter in the kitchen and provides a place to sit when it is not in use as a step stool.
