Step by step to build a page on Squidoo

Some people prefer an illustrated guide of exactly what to do next. Some people would rather hack around and figure it out. This is a lens for people who want the steps... It will be updated regularly so you can see how Squidoo works.

The Intro module

The Intro module

It was the first one you read on this page!

The intro module is added automatically to every lens on Squidoo. When you start editing a lens, it's the first one you see.

The intro module has three tabs across the top. The only one you must deal with is the first, but as we'll see, the other two are useful as well.

Type some text into the text box. Be vivid and direct and clear and tell us why to read what you're going to write.

Then, hit the Browse button and find a picture on your hard drive that you want to use on your intro. If you don't know how to do this, ask a friend about how to use the file system on your computer. I'm going to assume you know how to find files.

Then, hit UPLOAD PHOTO and SAVE.

Don't forget to turn on the table of contents!

The discovery tool lets you send people to other great lenses

The Polaroid module is dead simple.

Amazon voting is powerful and profitable

The Amazon voting (plexo) module

easy, fast, profitable and fun

Take a look at the module just below this paragraph. It's our module for selling related stuff AND letting your readers vote on it.

You pick a variety of items (or let Amazon help you). You can paste in the URL of each item, or use Let Amazon Pick choice.

A bunch of titles with covers will be shown (and yes, you can do DVDs or tools or anything else Amazon sells).

Here's the best part: visitors to your lens can vote on their favorites (like digg) and they can even add their own suggestions.

It's really quite simple. (There's one below). You pick an argument, you create both sides, you post it.

You can curate the comments, approving each as it appears, so that way the quality stays high.

The Baby Ruth is better than warm tub full of Jello

I'd rather have a piece of healthy chocolate - Xocai.

Well wait a minute.....shouldn't I try the warm tub full of Jello before rendering a decision?

nucis_space says:

It's good, but the Baby Ruth is no Snickers Ice Cream bar.

Meh... I'd rather have a Hershey's Kiss!
