Who is Stephanie Daugherty

Ranked #28,304 in Entertainment, #321,892 overall

Hi!

My name is Stephanie Daugherty, although I'm better known by my online handle of Katiyana.  I'm a Leo, and was born in 1970 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  I've spent my whole life here, and would never dream of living anyplace else, because there is no place like Nebraska.

I've been married twice, divorced once and widowed once, and am currently single once again.  I have one daughter, currently a sophomore in High School, who is my pride and joy, as well as my rock of strength in dealing with the sudden death of my husband in 2006.   I've written a Squidoo lens dedicated to his memory.  The picture is on my wedding day, and that's my daughter serving as flower girl and stealing the shot.  It's hard to believe she's in high school and learning to drive now.

EDUCATION:

I attend Ruth Hill Elementary School, Irving Junior High School, and Lincoln Southeast High School, graduating in 1988.  I then went on to attend the University of Nebraska on a Regent's Four Year Scholarship.  I attended school for two years, and then left when I became pregnant with my daughter.  After my divorce, and my employment situation became more stable, I went back to school and completed my degree.  I graduated with High Distinction from the University of Nebraska in December 1998 with my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Accounting.

EMPLOYMENT:

I got my first real job after my first marriage broke up, and I was a part-time receptionist in the Lancaster County Public Defender's Office.  That lasted for 9 months, until my position was cut from the office budget.

From there, I moved on to work in the Payment Processing department of UNIPAC (now known as Nelnet), a student loan servicing company.  I processed the Exception items, or payments that couldn't be processed electronically.  I was there for 3 years, near the end of my time there, they were trying to re-structure and re-organize the company, and my job functions were supposed to be moved to St. Paul, MN.  Fortunately my graduation from college made it possible for me to start searching for a better job before my position was eliminated yet again.

I got my current job in 1999 - I'm the accountant for a not-for-profit utility company here in Lincoln that provides electricity, natural gas, and related services to municipalities across the Midwest.  It's a wonderful job, and the people here are the best.  They've been a second family to me following the death of my husband, and very supportive when I've needed time off to do things with my daughter or work on my online job.

The same year that I started my accountant job, I was introduced to Pokemon trading cards and online shopping, specifically eBay.  I started as a buyer, and then became a seller.  I now have an eBay store dedicated to selling not only Pokemon trading cards, but also trading card supplies and handmade doll clothes and handmade bear clothes.  I'm currently in the process of phasing out my Pokemon business, and will be focusing more of my efforts on my handmade doll and bear clothes.

I am a proud member of the OSI Rock Stars! OSI Rock Stars is an educational gold mine for online entrepreneurs who "Choose Success", as RockStar Founder Janelle Elms would say.  Through OSI Rock Stars, we have the opportunity to participate in podcasts and webinars covering a broad range of topics that all online sellers would learn from:  accounting, taxes, product procurement, search engine optimization, even Squidoo!  Janelle puts out a daily newsletter filled with kudos for the success that we have built, sharing questions she has received and gathering input from the newsletter subscribers to help answer the question.  The OSI Rock Stars brings together a broad range of people, whose group knowledge is available to all to learn from.  If you would like to get more information, click on the logo below.

HOBBIES:

I have many hobbies which I use to fill my time and keep myself entertained, when I have free time that needs to be filled. I like to stay busy, especially now, I don't miss my husband quite so much when my mind is occupied with other things. I tend to be a multi-tasker to the extreme, so I am usually doing 3-5 things at any given time, and have multiple projects in-process around the house.

Anyway, my hobbies include knitting (yes, I do knit for myself as well as my customers when I can!), cross stitching, latch hooking, reading, and watching sports, reality TV shows, and DVDs - mostly anime and historical shows about World War II and the Civil War.

I am a HUGE fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers in football, volleyball and other sports. That's one reason I created my Nebraska Cornhuskers Fans lens.

I've also become a huge fan of Squidoo since I discovered it in August of 2006. I've created over 80 lenses so far and can't stop building them. I'm the founding member of Squidaholics Anonymous, and I also created a lens about how I started on Squidoo. To see all of my current lenses, please visit my Lensography.

You'll be able to see that I've used my many hobbies as ideas for my lenses, as well as some of my favorite books, favorite movies, and favorite TV shows.
