Stephen Colbert, The Man Who Does Good Things That Need Doing
Stephen Colbert can sometimes come across as a tad bit arrogant, but only because he knows he's always right. And, he may come off as a bit greedy, but only because he wants the best. He seem a little self involved, but only because his wife told him not to get involved with others. Yes, in the end, Stephen Colbert always puts others first in his life (just after himself).
In all seriousness, using his position as a highly respected fake journalist, Colbert has raised a lot of money for several great causes. He has leveraged his position as a leader of the quasi-educated youth of today to do great things...which brings us to the Word: Charity.

On June 7, 2010, Bing donated $2500 each time Stephen Colbert says "Bing" to a charity of his choice. Donating other people's money is a favorite pastime for Stephen Colbert, so he managed to "Bing" enough to raise $100,000 in the episode.Watch the video of Stephen explaining Bing's contribution

WRISTSTRONG Bracelet
To Benefit Yellow Ribbon Fund
In June of 2007, Stephen Colbert made a valiant effort to rev up the crowd attending a taping of his show. Unfortunately he became a casualty of the event, having broken his left wrist in his efforts. However, being the cable news hero that he is, Colbert went on the the show. After seeking medical attention after the taping, he was left with a cast on his wrist helping him remember the tragic series of events.Stephen Colbert understood deeply the plight of the wrist injured individuals. He used his show to expose violence toward wrists in television and film. To raise awareness for wrist violence and its victims, Colbert presented his audience with silicon Wrist Strong bracelets.
Other celebrities joined Stephen Colbert in his Wrist Strong Cause. Barack Obama, Matt Lauer, Al Franken, Adrien Grenier, Matt Perry, Al Gore, Arianna Huffington, Rupert Jee of Hello Deli, Eric Estrada, and the astronauts from Atlantis, amongst others have been seen sporting a wriststrong bracelet.
For each WRISTSTRONG Bracelet sold, $5 will be donated to Yellow Ribbon Fund, which supports wounded US veterans from all branches of the US Military. Watch the wristband saga unfold.
By January 2008, Colbert's WristStrong bracelets had already raised over $170,000 for The Yellow Ribbon Fund, with his auctioned off cast earning another $17,200.

Stephen Colbert Quote
On Giving of Ourselves
That we have the capacity to give so much of ourselves to others is, I think, what separates us humans from the animals. Sure, there are other things, like the fact that we don't shoot venom out of fangs.
