My entry for The Colbert Reports "Art Stephen Up" portrait contest!
Comedy, Politics & Art?! I AM IN!! With little time, I have put this piece together. It is not my tightest work but all of the elements I wanted included are there.
It is so funny, I try to explain how much of a genius Stephen Colbert is all of the time. How he has combined comedy, with politics and in such a way that it literally blows my mind! So I had a chance to put it on canvas!
I love Jon Stewart as well, so I do not intend to take anything away from him. I just love the way Colbert has taken theater and acting, combined with comedy & politics! He is a walking work of art in my opinion!

The challenge to the artists of the Nation is to to reinterpret Stephens portrait, then watch him unveil his favorites. The image shown here is an older version of the portrait used in this challenge. You can download his most recent portrait by visiting the link below. After you have completed your work he has an email address provided to send in your entry.
Okay, so I broke the rules! I did not use the original portrait image :0 I did an acrylic on canvas painting and sent in an image of that. He did show an Etch-A-Sketch portrait that was submitted, so I figured it would be fine to go ahead and paint my own instead of editing the original portrait. Will see. All details are on the link below!

- Colbert's and Stewart's gifts to the American public has been to engage a segment of typically low-information voters and help get them engaged in politics. Your art piece is a nice tribute to Colbert's efforts and I'm sure he'd enjoy it.
