Everything's Eventual: Stephen King, Master of Horror
Ranked #46,005 in Arts & Design, #1,586,621 overall
Brace yourself for the ultimate cliche: I was ten years old when I picked up the book that changed my life. At the very least, aspects of it.
The book was It.
I had always liked reading--loved it, even. But very few children's books had ever made me care about the characters, much less allow me to completely immerse myself in a new world.
Thus I began my journey into the world of Stephen King.
Of course, he isn't for everyone. Are you looking for a distorted reality, where the most nightmarish scenarios can seem so real? Do you mind the rush of being scared out of your wits? Do you want to laugh, to cry, to care? Are you unfazed by unflinching honesty?
In that case, Stephen King fits the bill quite nicely.
Richard Bachman
Richard Bachman is a pseudonym used by Stephen King. Rage, The Long Walk, Road Work, The Running Man, and Thinner were published under the name. In 1985 it was publicly made known that King was writing under this pseudonym, and so he announced Richard Bachman's death--the result of "cancer of the pseudonym, a rare form of schizonomia".On the right--the photo used to portray Bachman. Photo credit? Goes to Claudia Inez Bachman, author of "Charlie the Choo-Choo" in the Dark Tower book Wolves of the Calla.
