Stephen King - The King Of Horror And Much More

I am a huge Stephen King Fan. Stephen King is one the most popular, well-known authors of our time. Readers range from teens to their grandparents and both his written works and television and film adaptations span generations. I consider him a "rock star" author. It is truly a rare thing for an author to have such a level of familiarity. Although he is billed "The King Of Horror" due to his impressive knack for scaring the heck out of the masses, there is much more to this creative genius than the ability conjure creepy tales and play on societies deepest fears. It is my opinion, an opinion shared by many in both the publishing and film industries and fans alike, that Stephen King's character development skills are unmatched by any and second to none. His ability to delve into the human soul and create fully developed, seemingly living, breathing, feeling human beings out of thin air is not only truly amazing, but a little scary in itself.

Three reasons to love Stephen King

1. Everyone could use a good scare every now and then, it lets us know we are alive!

2. Even if you don't like horror, there is a King story you will love such as "The Green Mile" or "Different Seasons" (contains 4 non-horror type novellas including "The Body", which the film "Stand By Me" is based from, and "Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption", which the blockbuster film "The Shawshank Redemption" is based on.

3. His work always has a deeper meaning and he will always leave you with a message about life or the endurance of the human spirit.

What Is My Favorite Book Written By Stephen King?

I'm So Glad You Asked.....

What Are My Favorite Stephen King Film Adaptations?

Again, I'm so glad you asked....

Being an avid reader, I have come to accept, as we all must at some point, that the film will not be the same as the book. The art of writing, no matter how much creative effort is put in, will never be completely translated in all it's glory on film. That is just the way it is. When I watch a movie that has been adapted from a written work, I try not to compare the two, for they are very different creatures. That being said.... here are my four all time favorite films based on the written works of Stephen King.

1. The Green Mile

Shout Out For Stephen King!

I like that so many of Stephen King's works translate well to film, especially "The Shawshank Redemption." The only exception is "It," which was a great book, but a disappointing mini-series (stinko ending!) Also, I really liked "Stand By Me." He's truly a genius. Blessed by a Squid Angel.
