Stephenie Meyer Interviews

Ranked #8,034 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #284,491 overall

Mixing Two Genres

I think Stephenie Meyer is almost a genius. She mixed two Genres and shoved them into a Young Adult format and wondered why it was such a success. The Twilight series is a mix between a Vampire (Dark Urban Fantasy) novel and a Romance Novel. I wonder if she saw the success of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and thought she would make her own rendition of that story. You see, the young adult market seems to feed into the emotions young adults have at an age where everything means the end of the world.

Personally I thought the story was great. I am not one who likes all the romance and emotional drama that seemed to be embedded within the story, but the exploration of several different types of Love within one story was an interesting concept.

This lens takes the time to get to know Meyer and her books a little bit better. I compiled a list of interviews I think you will enjoy.

Meyer's Advice for Writers

Write for the Joy of Writing. That is what she suggests to all those new and aspiring writers in the world. I can't say that I don't agree with her. I think if you are looking to write just for a paycheck or for something other than your own enjoyment, it will become more like a job, a drudgery, something you will not want to do anymore.

The Meaning of the Breaking Dawn Cover

Bella was moving from the weakest player in the story to the most powerful person in the series. She is the queen. It is also a battle between two forces playing a strategic game throughout the books. It is a beautiful cover and I think there is a lot of symbolism in it.
