The master of musical theater!

If there's anyone who's music I love to hear, see performed, perform...it's Mr. Stephen Sondheim.  His contribution to the American musical theater is beyond words.  Enjoy this lens on one of the most influential composer and lyricists in the world.

Mr. Sondheim received a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre at the 2008 TOny Awards. What a well-deserved award for an incredible asset to the world of theatre. Mandy Patinkin accepted on his behalf and read a moving speech provided by Mr. Sondheim. We can continue to expect wonderful things from this prolific Broadway legend!

I've heard rumors about a possible movie version of Into the Woods. Now wouldn't that be amazing? Well, with the right cast, of course!

When I was in college, my vocal accompanist was a talented young pianist who seemed to know every broadway song ever written, and had just one focus: going to Broadway and working with the best. A decade later I was watching the Tonys when Sondheim picked up his award, and thanked the best reharsal accompanist in the world: Paul Ford. That focused young man had achieved his dream - working with the best. Wonderful lens; Happy Valentine's Day!
