Thinking About Starting Your Pilot Training?
There are many important steps to take and understand before embarking on your journey of becoming a licensed pilot. Our goal is to help anyone learn as much as they can prior to entering a pilot training school.
Before Entering Pilot School
As little kids we're often asked the things we wanted to be once we grew up, many of us mentioned that we thought about being firefighters, doctors, veterinarians, and there were several of us who mentioned that we wanted to become pilots.We can't deny that pilots have among the highest paying jobs, and nothing comes even close to the perks that come with it: getting to travel around the world. It's true that a pilot's job is also the most challenging since you are responsible for the lives of the hundreds of passengers on board your flight. Whenever the job itself is hard, typically the steps to becoming one are as well. Not everyone gets to become a pilot and there a variety of elements that must be considered to become a licensed pilot.
Here are some of the things you could do to become the pilot you always wanted to be:
Choose a Flight School
All the knowledge you really need to survive inside the aircraft and travel industry will come from here. Also a thing to remember is that you simply don't just enter any flight school. Deciding on a flight school is just like deciding on the university you'd like to enter during college and will be a big deciding factor on your pilot career. Here are a few of the things to consider when picking your flight school:
Location. Just like any other school, location is vital; it must be convenient so that you can attend school every single day. Convenience may mean a straightforward commute from your house, or it may also mean somewhere near your home. It's crucial that you find something that isn't challenging to reach. Should you really enjoy a school that may be far from your home, better get an apartment nearby the building, which you could rent.
Schedule. If you don't commit to get into flight school full time, scheduling is certainly important. Be sure that you get a school that has classes that's going to suit your schedule.
Aircraft Rental Rates. Deciding on a good school will also rely upon the aircraft rental rates of the institution. Ensure that you can pay for to rent any of the planes that you will have in flying lessons as well as other required trainings.
Obtain a License
Just like driving a car, you will also need to have a license to fly an airplane. In the United States, the FAA or the Federal Aviation Administration is in charge of licensing future pilots. Now, to acquire a license you need to get the following:
You should pass a basic medical exam;
You must pass a check ride which is like a driving exam for aircrafts which will also be given by an FAA certified instructor;
Pass a written examination;
And receive instruction from a certified flight instructor, which you will receive once you pass flight school.
Ask for Advice
Basically the first two are the main things you should accomplish in becoming a pilot, once you've done that you can say hello to all of the main airlines of the world. But sometimes before starting your journey of a lifetime, it's always best to hear from the experts themselves. Ask for advice from your seniors, pilots who have been flying for long periods. As they simply have "been there and done that", you can ask them for guidance on surviving the real world.
Also, reading up on popular pilot blogs is another excellent method of getting as much advice as possible from the veterans.
