Make sure you select a topic that you are passionate about. You will be writing about this topic for the life of the blog, and you want it to be long lived. Make it something you are excited to wake up in the morning and write about. It will show in your writing if you are not interested in what you are saying. The readers will not be interested either. One very important trick is to unleash the internet spiders, per se. You want your website or blog to come up in search results, so you enlist it with as many powerful web search websites as possible.Technorati is a great example. The more that your blog is listed on other websites, the higher the page rank, the higher up it appears in search results.
