Steven B. Dodge
Steven B. Dodge started his professional career as vice President at Bank of Boston. Between 1971 and 1978, he built the most profitable, largest CATV loan portfolio among national banks. Focusing on cable television and motion picture lending gave him much of the experience that he needed to set out on his. In 1978 he founded American CableSystems Corporation. This decision fit well with Dodge's entrepreneurial spirit.
American CableSystems Corporation grew quickly over the next decade. By 1988 it had become one of the top 20 national TV companies. Much of this success came from the guidance of Dodge, who served as the founder, CEO, and leading shareholder. The company was sold to Continental in 1988 for $450 million.
Dodge's success with American CableSystems Corporation encouraged him to start another business. This time, however, he wanted to focus on radio services. In 1988, he founded American RadioSystems Corporation, which grew into one of the top five radio station operators in the country and became the ratings and revenue share leader in 10 of 20 markets. The company merged into CBS Radio in 1998.
This merger allowed Dodge to focus on American Tower, a company that had started as a subsidiary of ARS but became an independent organization after the merger. Dodge devoted himself to this company for several years, during which time he built it into the world's leading operator and owner of communications towers. When Steven B. Dodge left American Tower in 2003 to focus his attention on Windover Development LLC, he made sure that American Tower was in the hands of a capable management team that could ensure the organization's continued success.
In addition to working with Windover Development LLC, today Steven B. Dodge focuses on philanthropy, minority education, land conservation, and various environmental concerns.
