Why drink Nettle tea?
Nettle tea is my absolute favorite. In fact, stinging nettle is my favorite healing herb. When I was studying to be an herbalist, I came across the writings of Susun Weed and I learned that pretty much everyone has at least one "go to" healing herb.
Nettle is mine and I tend to recommend it to people whenever I get the chance (safely, of course - it's high in Vitamin K, for example, so shouldn't be given to people who are taking blood thinners).
Aside from that, I look at this plant more as a food than a medicine and use it more for "health enhancement" than for "health fixing". So I thought I'd start a lens that shares my beliefs and knowledge about this lovely plant.

I prefer to take stinging nettle as a tea because a big part of the value of the plant is the minerals which are water soluble - plus I love the way it tastes this way. I put two tea bags in a one liter mason jar, fill it with water, cover it, and let it sit for four hours. It's extra tasty that way and I love it over ice!

- We had stinging nettle soup in Finland. It was fine although I'm not sure I'd make it for my family.

- My favorite way with Nettle is to make a simple infusion - I bet I'd like the soup even more if it were pureed and then finished off with some Creme Fraiche!

- Thanks for commenting on my recent lens :-) A friend of mine used to give me stinging nettle tea when we'd get together. I had forgotten that it was such a healthy, nourishing plant.
When my youngest son was about 8 or 9, he found out the bad effects of stinging nettle -- he walked through a patch of it. Poor kid!
