Hip knitting books and how-to videos

Getting the hang of knitting takes a while. Knitting in groups is super fun, but it's not always the best place to figure out a new stitch or technique. These are some books and DVDs that I have found particualrly helpful in explaining & illustrating the how-tos of knitting. Unlike some older knitting books, the projects in these are quite hip - so in addition to learning a thing or two you'll wind up with stuff you'll actually want to wear!
