Sexual violence is a serious problem that affects millions of people every year.
Females are the most likely victims of sexual violence - although anyone can be one. Some victims are forced into unwanted sexual activities or put in a position that they cannot refuse due to threats or intimidation.
Others are unable to give consent because of age, mental illness, physical disability, or because they are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Sexual violence is most often committed by someone known to the victim such as a spouse, family member, co-worker, friend or acquaintance.
Fact:1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 7-10 boys will experience unconsenting sexual assault before their 18th birthday!
