Stop Killing Trees

If you use paper please use sustainable resources

There Are A Lot of Alternatives for Direct Mail Marketers: We the people who receive tons of direct mail marketing circulars, catalogs, invitations, and other unsolicited (as well as solicited) mail every day have one request; Please use paper that hasn't killed a tree! For a very long time we have attempted to reduce the amount of mail we receive and that hasn't been very successful. The time has come to put a stop to the senseless slaughter of the trees on our planet who are our main source of the very air we breath. Do you want to be the one to tell our grand children the reason there are no more trees?

"oh, I'm so sorry Billy, but, We had to send tons and tons of unwanted mail everyday for decades and eventually it took its toll on our planet's trees. So that is why you have to wear that oxygen mask all the time. But, not to worry, in about a hundred years we will have re-grown at least enough to allow for people to breath on their own again...well that is if we don't start cutting any of them down again."

Well Billy... If I were you I would write to all of the Direct Marketers Now. You get their address' everytime you open the mail box. Some of them even include those self addressed no postage required envelopes.

This lens is going to highlight ways we can turn this insanity around once and for all. The more people join this celebration of trees and give people who need to know some easy to follow ideas, we have a chance to make the world a better place NOW.

Save The Trees

CleanerLife says:

I actually don't want any of their marketing mail. I'm disappointed that many companies that I've only purchased things from them using their websites will sent me things in the mail.

I never order from paper catalogers, all the ones I receive go right to the recycle bin. I feel that's a waste, even if that paper gets recycled, it didn't serve a useful purpose to me, so why should energy be spent recycling it?

I buy a lot items online from Amazon, and they've never sent me anything in the mail. They do send me email updates in categories I've signed up for.

I've spent quite a bit of money at Staples over the years, and I'm happy to say that they mostly only send me ads by email, almost nothing paper, so some people are starting to catch on.

Sustainable resources, definitely.

Definitely save the trees! So many other alternatives are available now :) My loo paper for example is Eco-friendly!

We Suggested a New Law

Anyone who uses more than 10 pounds of paper a year must use paper produced with sustainable resources.

Important!

Trees

Save Them Please.

Your Letter Can Be Typed, Handwritten, or Printed Out.

We thought that we might get 4-6 letters on each sheet of paper. We would save paper (even the sustainable kind deserves some respect right?), and we can all use the Direct Marketing SASE to pay the postage.

Countdown to Letter Count Day

Letter Count Day: March 6, 2012

Letter Tally Board - Tell Us How Many Letters You or Your Group Have Mailed

Tally Your Letters and Tell Us The Count.
This can be how many you have sent personally, or how many your class, your civic group, your office, or your family has sent.

Lets see how many letters we can send in the next 90 days to get started. I think that we are going to be very surprised how much we can do collectively.

Oh you are so right re direct mail and if it was not effective, it would stop. So if we just stop buying from direct mail ads, it will slow down to a halt.

It makes me sick to think of all the waste involved with direct mail marketing. You've done an excellent job here giving me something to think about. Thanks.
