Stop Toddler Whining - PLEASE
To stop toddler whining was my goal. Toddler whining, though very common, is sometimes very annoying. It does get on my nerves and probably people around me as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter to the maximam level that a person can and beyond, but the truth remains.
I did not just stand back and tolerate it hoping that it would eventually stop. But I took a step forward and try to stop my child from doing it. With a great help from an amazing guide, I could stop toddler whining. The best part is - it was done in a constructive parenting style.

Stop Toddler Whining - Why do they do it?
Good question! Why does a toddler whine? The answer is very simple. To get your attention. Your little toddler relies on you on everything. However, it could be because they are hungry, tired or even ill.
Whining can be compared to a high tone of desperate request. If the reason is not because your child is hungry, tired or ill, it may be simply because you don't respond or hear your child's request in the first place. (Well, you might have heard the request, but simply ignored it.)
Or it could be because you are simply refusing to give them something. And since they are not getting it, they try something else that they believe might work like whining or throwing tantrums. And the funny part (not literally funny )is that it usually works because us parents just do not want your baby to make a scene especially in the public place. Well, so we give in. And once they know it works, you can imagine what follows! More and more whining and tantrums on the way. It makes me wonder how smart they are!

How to Stop Toddler Whining
First - understand that most of the times with most of the babies, they do not even know that they are actually whining. To simply tell them to stop whining will not have any affect. (Ever Noticed that?) You have to tell them what is whining.
Catch them at the moment and tell them that this is whining and I do not understand what you want. Speak nicely, then I can help you.
Sometimes a trick like imitating them works. You start whining they way they are doing. They will find it funny and start laughing.
I once was caught into a situation where I ended up whining. So we have one toddler and one adult whining together. And I was not even trying to imitate my daughter. Well, imagine that.
Respond to them before they start whining if you can.
You need to teach your toddler how to wait or politely interrupt if he wants something and does not get the immediate response because you are busy with something else.
The other tip that works is to distract your toddler. If she starts whining, why not sing a song, or bring out her favorite book. In most cases, it works because toddlers are easily distracted. However, if they are sick or sleepy, this might not work.
