How I managed to cure my blushing problem

Facial blushing is a normal healthy physiological response. The problem happens when this blushing response increases feelings of anxiety which in turn increases the blushing which again fuels the anxiety and so on. Also, some people are prone to blushing much more than others, having built, unknowingly, 'conditioned reflexes' over the years.

Stop Blushing Tips

People may blush as a natural response to being embarrassed about something they did or an event they witnessed. The increased blood flowing to certain areas of the body results from dilation of the tiny facial blood vessels. The cheeks, and sometimes the neck, will turn evenly red or have a blotchy red pattern. If a person has this reaction too frequently for his or her liking, these tips to stop blushing should be followed.

Facial flushing is a symptom of High blood pressure, rosacea, and several other medical conditions. Making a doctor's appointment for a physical is a wise first step because it will identify whether the flushing has its roots in a health issue. A medical cause may require a plan of treatment that includes prescription drugs. Consulting with a doctor once the symptoms becomes apparent is recommended because it may help prevent a medical condition from becoming more serious.

Alcohol can cause people to blush without any other triggering event, so limit the amount of alcohol consumed. The accumulation of acetaldehyde in the body causes the face, neck, shoulders, and possibly the entire body to turn red after alcohol is consumed. People with what is known as an ALDH2 deficiency have a history of this facial flushing. An ALDH2-deficient person who drinks two beers per day is six to ten times more likely to develop esophageal cancer than a person who is not deficient in this enzyme.

Spicy or hot foods also tend to increase the tendency for a person to blush, so avoid those if this situation is relevant. Limit the amount of hot drinks, such as coffee and tea, consumed in the day. During work hours, consume these only during times at the desk, not before a meeting or presentation.

Maintaining the body temperature is also essential to limiting facial flushing. Keep cool in the summer and dress warmly in the winter. If the temperature is anticipated to change throughout the day, dress in layers and take them on or off as necessary. Drink plenty of liquids to remain hydrated and maintain a consistent body temperature.

Taking these steps will help an individual to stop blushing in various situations. The key to eliminating facial flushing is to identify the triggers and limit the exposure to these items. Having a regular amount of blush-free days will make one less self-conscious, which helps to improve self-confidence.
