What Kind of Guitar Do You Need?
You want to do some research into what kind of sound you want to achieve before you invest in a guitar - whether it's new or used. A guitar with nylon strings will deliver a softer sound, which is great if you want to focus on classical guitar music.
It's possible to find inexpensive new guitars that are of pretty good quality these days. I personally prefer Martin Guitars, but you can choose an Ibanez guitar or Yamaha guitar if you're just starting out, too.

Go to a local guitar store, but not with the intention of buying that day. Instead, use that time to evaluate the different kinds of guitars - from acoustic to electric. Make some mental notes about what you did or didn't like about each type and brand of guitar.
Take that information home with you for further research. Not only are you concerned with buying the right kind of guitar, but you want to be a savvy shopper, too! You'll want to go to each company's website and research the features and gear they offer.
But on the Internet, there's a lot of competition to provide the best pricing and widest array of choices in acoustic and electric guitars. At Lyon's Music, for instance, we offer selections on many brands that come in new and used form, so when someone comes to our site, they're going to find something that suits their needs.

The guitar, according to Wikipedia:
![]()
The guitar is a musical instrument with ancient roots that is used in a wide variety of musical styles. It typically has six strings, but four-, seven-, eight-, ten-, eleven-, twelve-, thirteen- and eighteen-string guitars also exist.
Guitars are recognized as one of the primary instruments in flamenco, jazz, blues, country, mariachi, rock music, and many forms of pop. They can also be a solo classical instrument. Guitars may be played acoustically, where the tone is produced by vibration of the strings and modulated by the hollow body, or they may rely on an amplifier that can electronically manipulate tone. Such electric guitars were introduced in the 1930s, and they have continued to have a profound influence on popular culture since then.
Traditionally guitars have usually been constructed of combinations of various woods and strung with animal gut, or more recently, with either nylon or steel strings. Guitars are made and repaired by luthiers. There are many brands of guitars, but some commonly known brands are Fender, Gibson, Dean, Gretsch, Ibanez, Martin, Jackson, Schecter, Taylor,Paul Reed Smith, and Yamaha.
