Stork Baby Shower Invitations
The super cute invitation to the right features a blue stork holding a bundle of joy in the background. It features a vellum overlay that is printed with all of the shower details such as the location, time, date and RSVP information. You can also purchase this stork baby shower invitation in a pink color scheme from Baby Gifts & Gift Baskets. Several other companies such as Tiny Prints sell custom baby shower invitations as well. Another invite option is to purchase cards where you just write the shower details on the inside .... this option can be a bit more affordable, but beware that it will take lots of time if you are inviting many people to the shower. The final option is to create your own invitations either on the computer using clip art with a stork theme or by utilizing scrap-booking stickers and card stock that you may already have on hand if you are the crafty sort. I also found this FREE printable stork invitation template at Hoover Designs.

Stork Themed Tableware
When it comes to shower decorations, I usually like to start with the tableware because all of the other stuff can be themed around the color scheme of the plates, napkins, cups, tablecover, etc. The stork themed tableware shown in the photograph is available from Party Pail. As you can see, it features a lovely sunny yellow background with pink and blue accents making a good choice for a baby boy or baby girl shower. For this color scheme, you could use yellow, pink and blue streamers and balloons throughout the party area.Decorate the walls with cardboard stork cut-outs, foil-shaped stork balloons, and stork-shaped light strings. A custom baby shower banner that is personalized with Mom's name and a stork motif would look great over the gift or buffet table. Don't forget to buy or make a stork themed diaper cake that features a plush stork holding a baby sitting atop it (see the photos at the bottom of this lens).
Finally, a fun way to greet guests as they arrive at the shower is to rent one of those stork delivery signs. Many people use them after baby is born, but they can be customized with anything you want so use them to say "Welcome to the Smith Baby Shower April 8, 2010" for example. Here is a sample of what they look like.

Stork Themed Shower Food Ideas
Beyond creating a stork-themed cake or set of cupcakes, I have only a few ideas for creating stork-themed food. Instead, I suggest using the standard baby shower fare such as finger sandwiches, jello salads, a baked potato or taco bar, fruit and veggie trays, cheese and crackers, etc. Pick your favorite year-round appetizer recipes and serve them on baby-themed platters and trays. You can also use a stork or even an egg-shaped cookie cutter to give the sandwiches, cheese, cookies and jello jigglers a fun shape to match the party theme. You could also put out some nuts or trail mix with a little tent card that says "Don't Feed The Storks" or something clever along those lines.
Below you will find some stork cake photos for inspiration and some Amazon links for some easy stork cake kits and images so that you can bake up something fairly quickly and easily.
Stork Baby Shower Cakes

Storks lend themselves well to baby shower themes and many planners choose either a pink, blue, or neutral yellow stork theme to carry through the entire baby shower. Above you can see several stork cake ideas and mousses from Wilton.
I also like this stork themed cake that I found at Bakers Nook. It features a hand drawn stork on it with the stork carrying a baby in his beak. It features yummy buttercream icing and of course could be done with a pink, blue, or any color scheme you want.

Stork Shower Game Tips
Classic baby shower games are your best bet for a stork-themed baby shower. Here are some of my favorites...How Big is Mommy's Tummy Game - This is one funny shower game and you'll be amazed at just how clueless people are about how big Mommy is getting. Before the shower, buy a bunch of cheap toilet paper rolls. When you are ready to play the game, send around the rolls of toilet paper and have the guests each tear off the amount of toilet paper that matches the circumference around mommy's tummy perfectly. Have the expectant Mommy stand up in the middle of the room. Then have each guests wrap their toilet paper around Mom's mid-section to see who is closest to the right size to determine the winner.
Draw Baby's Face - This is another game that will have your guests laughing out loud. Prior to the shower, buy some cheap round white paper plates and some crayons. When you are ready to play, give each guest a plate and a crayon. Tell them to put the plate on top their head and ask them to draw baby's face on the plate. Give them 1 minute to draw a face. At the end of the time, let mommy choose who drew the face that will look most like her baby.
Don't Say Baby Game - When the guests arrive at the shower, give each of them a yarn necklace that has 5 small plastic pacifiers (you can find them at local party supply shops). Explain that any time they get 'caught' saying the word baby during the shower, they must give one of their pacifiers to the person that caught them. At the end of the baby shower, the person with the most pacifiers on their necklace wins.
Baby Word Scramble Game - If you have a computer, you can easily make up game sheets for the guests to use at the shower. Before the shower, take 20 to 25 baby words (like stork and pacifier), scramble them up (trosk and rifcaipe) and put them on the game sheets - be sure to use some flying stork clip art in the game sheet corners. At the shower, give a game sheet to each guest and time them for 5 minutes telling them to unscramble as many of the words as possible. The person with the most unscrambled words wins.
Baby Item Memory Game - Borrow 10 to 15 small baby items (or buy them if you want some little gifts to give to the expectant Mom). Place the items on a large tray or cookie sheet. Hand out blank pieces of paper and pencils to all of the guests. Then, parade the tray around the room stopping for just a few seconds at each guest's chair so they can get a quick look at the tray of items. Cover the tray back up and give the guests a few minutes to write down all the items on the tray. The one that gets the most items wins.
A twist on this game is to parade around the tray and then have another person ask the guests to write down exactly what you (the hostess) was wearing (including jewelry). Usually everyone is so focused on the tray that they aren't even looking at the hostess so you'll get a few laughs when you tell them what to write down.
