Strange Christmas Tree Decorations
I Love To Decorate My Christmas Tree With Strange Christmas Ornaments
My first strange decoration was our Santa Banana who was given to me by a coworker over 30 years ago. This Santa is a rubbery plastic decoration. Our dear old Santa is in the Hi Ho Silver position, riding the banana like a horse and holding onto the peel. He is the prize decoration on our tree. I bet my kids will fight over it when I am gone!
(There has already been some discussion between the kids in that direction, but I don't plan on going anywhere for many many years.)

Great Christmas Decoration Information In Each Section
Here is a sample of my collection.
I think of them as fun, but most say they are weird. You can judge for yourself.
(A few are a little overexposed in my photos here. I'm still learning how to shoot close up with a flash.)

Now if you are a cat lover you will realize how sweet this kitty is. If you are not a cat lover, you probably will think this one is strange.

I think we're somewhere in the middle but probably mostly traditional. My favorite ornaments are the ones the kids make.

I love traditional, old-fashioned ornaments. Especially the glass stenciled type. :)

I typically prefer traditional decorations but my favorite things are the ones with some special significance, like the ones from my childhood.

lestroischenes says:
I like these funny things, but I'm afraid I'm just going to roll out our stock of decs collected over the years. If I buy more I might go for something more wacky!

I have traditional, and my spending days for a new theme may be past me. If I was starting out with a collection I would put myself in the crazy theme column.
Why not, I think everyone is a little more crazy, how a days.

I'll stick with classic, but I wouldn't mind adding something strange.

I'm somewhere in between, but more on the traditional side - I still definitely enjoy the crazy!

Our tree has mostly traditional, but I love the whimsy that a few key crazy decorations bring to a tree.

I like a Theme Tree. Mine is all Rocking Horses, white lights, and red bows. I DO enjoy seeing the different things other people put on their trees.

I have an eclectic mix of traditional, classy, and beautiful, and fun and funky. Hand blown glass, bejeweled ornaments, handmade ornaments, the kids' creations. etc., - you name it. Makes for an interesting tree.

It kind of depends on my mood whether I want something wacky or traditional. This year its wacky!

Our tree is decorated with wine-themed ornaments, lit by purple and green lights. For a long time we just left it up year round.

GypsyOwl says:
Just an example: one of our "light strings" looks like it was made from rifle shell casings... so I think we fall into the 'strange' category pretty well.

- This lens is so much fun! My siblings and I love crazy ornaments and for years when we came to visit my parents we hung our childhood favorites on their chandelier since they wouldn't allow them on the tree. I now have custody of a number of them. My personal all-time wacky faves: a spider made out of jingle bells, a morbidly obese puffball mouse in a Santa hat and a squirrel in a baseball mitt with some holly.

- What a fabulous lens! I especially love the can-can chicken-n-Santa, and the kitten. Also love the idea of using a Christmas tree decoration as a gift wrapping decoration. I think I'm definitely going to do that this year! Great selection here! Blessed. :)

- Just a hint about shooting close up in flash: You do not want to be physically too close. Use your zoom lens and then use a digital processor like Photoshop to enlarge the photo.
Nice lens by the way!

- I enjoyed seeing your unique Christmas ornaments. One of the favorites on my tree is from a craft fair. It's a guilty looking kitty holding a broken Christmas ball. He looks just like my gray cat who used to climb in the tree knocking things off.

- Fun to see your 'strange' Christmas Tree ornaments! My collection centers on my love of the Sea after years of living near the ocean on both East & West coasts, so I have lots of 'beachy' ornaments. :) Your 'Santa on a Surfboard' would fit right in with my others! :)
