Grow Your Window Cleaning Business with Streak Free Profits - A Review

Back in 2005, I was in college in Florida. Looking for some part-time work, I got a job with a large window cleaning company in the area.

After working with the company for a year, I decided I didn't want to work with that company anymore, and I could make a lot more if I went into business for myself, so I quit that job and started my own window cleaning business.

When I first started out, I understood how to clean windows, but I didn't know how to run a business. I had a lot of questions, such as "Do I need a business licensee?", "Do I need Window Cleaning Insurance?", "How do Give a Window Cleaning Estimate?", down to "How much do I charge?"

I searched around, and after I a lot of struggling, I found the book Streak Free Profits that would teach me all of those things. After a little more searching around, and a few e-mails with the author, I decided to buy Streak Free Profits and give it a try.

Anyways, enough about me, I want to move on and give you an honest review of my experience with Streak Free Profits.

The base of the package is the Streak Free Profits book. The guide starts by taking you through each step of building your window washing business, everything from getting a business license to setting up your tax structure.

The one part that was a little weak was the section on insurance. It tells you why you need it and where to get it, but doesn't go as deep in the process as I would have liked, however e-mailing the author, I got a confirmation that in the latest revision, insurance is fully covered.

Streak Free Profits also did an excellent job of outlining necessary equipment and where to get it, choosing your market and where to find clients, as well as estimating, bidding and setting up pricing structures.

In fact the only thing I can complain about with the estimating and bidding section was that there are too many options - as he provides you with 5 different methods for pricing a job so you can find what works best for you. And since pricing is one of the most important aspects of your window cleaning business, this is a great resource.

The chapters on residential and commercial marketing were also very helpful to me as I knew absolutely nothing about this area of business, such as how to target them, what attracts these types of clients, and how to attract them to you. Streak Free Profits provides you with a huge number of different advertising methods complete with pros and cons and how best to use them. One thing you'll learn about starting your own business, and this goes for any business, your marketing aspects are the most crucial, and this guide gives you a step-by-step outline to the process.

Another area of the book I really like was the chapter where he goes over what he calls "sideline services", or additional services you can offer to your window cleaning customers to increase your profits to your existing clients. Streak Free Profits provides a number of these services as well as information on what to charge and how to do them.

There are a large number of other topics that are covered in this window cleaning business how to guide that I will not mention in this review, because the book did such an excellent job in covering them. However, I will share with you a few things with you that are not covered in the book.

One thing is that Streak Free Profits does not provide any information on High Rise window cleaning. I know there is a big liability risk with teaching this kind of high rise information so I can understand why it's not talked about, but High Rise Cleaning, while a more advanced operation, is a great way to expand your profits and would like to see more info on it.

My other issue is on the subject of accounting. Since it is not an accounting book, it gives a brief overview and recommends that you should consult with an accountant on tax matters. Which is perfectly safe advice to give, as I would probably do the same, but I don't like to pay someone to do my taxes, and prefer to do them myself.

Overall, the book is incredibly well written and straight to the point. Aside from the few areas that could be expanded upon, I can honestly say that Streak Free Profits contains everything you need to start or grow your own window washing business.

I found this part of the Streak Free Profits package pretty exciting, not because it will expand your business from the start, but because it's exciting to see seasoned pros do their jobs, and do them well.

Maybe this comes from more personal experience, but I was relatively new, an I liked to compare some of the trick I had learned, with some others. It's always good to see something you do being confirmed as well as learning new things.

There are 8 videos in this series and they are very detailed in the amount of information provided. The unfortunate part, is since the product is delivered instantly over the internet, the videos are downloaded and compressed from their original quality so you can watch them on a computer screen.

However, if you were interested in higher quality videos, once you purchased the Streak Free Profits package you will have to option at anytime to upgrade (for a very fair price) to a Premium version of the Fast Start Videos and have a DVD version mailed to you.

The Premium Fast Start Videos is a full length, movie quality DVD that you can play on your DVD player and watch on your TV. It makes it easier to watch and take notes when sitting on your couch than hovering over your computer screen.

This is the goldmine. You could theoretically find a lot of other books on starting a window washing business for free by browsing through your local library, or going to your local SBA, but you won't find anything like this anywhere.

One of the biggest expenses when starting your own business is drafting up your marketing materials (business cards, flyers, rate sheets, postcards, etc.) Unless you are an expert in graphic design, paying a designer to make these for you can be a huge investment, however you this stuff to be taken seriously in your business.

The Streak Free Profits Marketing Materials package does it all for you. The package consists of two main kits: The Residential Window Cleaning Kit and the Commercial Window Cleaning Kit.

In the residential cleaning kit, you get 3 completely different postcards that can be used as flyers or as direct mailers, a door hanger flyer, as well as several other basic flyers. You also get a ready made residential estimate sheet that you can give to your prospective customers.

In the commercial marketing kit you get 3 more awesome postcards that are specifically tailored to the commercial window cleaning business, door hangers, a very professional estimate sheet that is strictly for commercial clients. You also get a special high end commercial marketing packet. I have used this packet to land some huge 2 year contracts on commercial buildings. This stuff really does work.

In addition to all of the flyers and postcards and printed materials, Streak Free Profits also provides you with a very nice logo that you can use for printing, t-shirts or vehicle graphics as well as a very professional (and fancy) looking business card.

If you want to be taken seriously as a business owner, none of this is optional, and your caliber of clients will relate directly to the quality of your marketing materials.

The flyers, business cards, postcards and Door hangers are all absolutely top notch and these are the nicest and most professional window cleaning flyers I've ever seen.

The up and the downside of this part of the product is that all of the files are built using Photoshop, a high-end graphics program. It makes them completely editable to your own business, but the downside is that this is a very expensive program to get.

Since I was still finishing up college at the time, the one thing I did was go to my school's computer lab and upload the files there. However, if you don't have access to a college computer lab, you can either work with a local print shop who will often help you edit the files, or take them to a Kinko's and use one of their computers for a few dollars an hour, which already has the software loaded on it to make the changes yourself.

One of my biggest areas of struggle when starting out my own business was looking for the proper way to present myself in doing business. I wanted to make sure that I was using the right window cleaning contracts, proposals, and estimates that looked professional and had everything taken care of.

The Streak Free Profits Business Forms package pretty much speaks for itself. These are all the forms you need to get your window washing business running. It's got forms and documents for every single situation from forms, letters, documents, and spreadsheets.

All of these documents are made using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) If you don't have that program, it can be troubling, however there is another program Open Office does does the same things, except it is completely free. You can find that program at here.

The newsletter is nice. The content is good and delivered regularly to my e-mail. One thing you'll learn about running a business (if you don't already) is that you always want to be growing to remain competitive so that someone else doesn't come along and outbid for your business.

The newsletter does exactly that. I know some people wish it was mailed to them, but I like saving trees and I am able to get the newsletter instantly.

The bonuses are a nice additional set of information. Generally, whenever you get any sort of bonus, it's usually crap they send you because you wouldn't buy it anyways. This is not the case with the Streak Free Profits bonus package. These additional items could each be products of their own.

There are three bonuses included. Two you can use immediately, and the third is for peace of mind to let you know that Tanner stands behind his product.

Confessions of a Broke Window Cleaner
This is a great little testimonial speaking from personal experience, how to avoid making costly mistakes from window cleaners who have been there.

The title is hilarious and inside, you'll get a wealth of information such as "13 Costly Business Mistakes" that business owners often attempt because it seems like a good idea from the start, but end up losing money.

While the other parts of the Streak Free Profits package are more textbook in their focus, this guide is fun to read and informational at the same time.


Free Updates For Life
With many books and informational products, you buy it once, something changes, and then you have to buy it again if you want the latest information.

With Streak Free Profits, that's not the case. When I first bought the product, I figured I wasn't ever going to see an update, however, in the little over a year that I have had Streak Free Profits, I have received two updates on the book, one which was over 20 pages of new material.

Service Industry Direct Mail Secrets Exposed
In my experience, I have gotten my best response from direct mailings: sending a potential client a postcard or something. I have found this works the best because when you mail someone something, they read it.

This guide takes direct mailing a step further and goes through the entire process and even into more advanced techniques to increasing your impact.

A word of caution, this guide gets very technical in its approach and I wouldn't recommend it until you have already built up a little bit of business. However, once you get a grasp of some of these techniques you can really watch your business explode.

You may be wondering how I'm doing with my window cleaning business. Well, I'm not rich or famous cleaning windows, but I am able to earn enough money part time as most of my friends with big fancy jobs make working full-time. In addition, it has allowed me to make a decent living and still do all of the things I've wanted to do, with the spare time to do it.

And I'm not afraid to admit that I probably couldn't have done it without Streak Free Profits. I believe it really is the fast track to success in window cleaning.
