The tin
..of sardine, is now opened. I need to get it on my cooking pot. Oh no! What should I do?! I need it done quick. Else my customers will go hungry, or worse! leave without paying money! Time is money!
Ah here's a straw, there we go. It just needs a good lil push .
That's how bytes travel in this country.
And I'm ain't going to live with that. I'm hungry!
Once upon a time
Malaysia was just surviving on 56k modem. That was roughly back in 1990s. To those who had it them, it was a great privilege and luxury. People didn't mind the speed nor the consistent disconnection problem as it was the only internet access. Two big giants for the internet license appeared. One, Telekom Malaysia ( now rebranded into TM) the other Jaring. The latter emerge as the people's favorite. Those days.Sadly, now even after years of broadband implementation and usage, Jaring is no longer at prime. Rather just a speckle of shadow of it's former self. It does offer broadband services, but it's very unstable, frequently disconnecting thus no longer holds the trust of Malaysian citizen.
However TM thrived from it's DSL broadband service Streamyx.
Reigning King
During it's infancy stage, somewhere around 1995, it was sheer pain. Frequent disconnection, no DSL link, unstable DSL pulse, you name it Malaysia did it. After all, this country has a motto "Malaysia boleh", which means literally "Malaysia can".Fortunately the netizens of Malaysia have yet to experience the speed of a true broadband service to have any basis to compare and complain about. Afterall, in this government controlled media country with lousy, trashy broadband there's little information traversal to create an awareness.
But miraculously as it seems now, the 99.999% Malay
controlled, and ran company continued to buck up their quality in terms of customer service and technical.
From what was a 246kbps, now to 512kbps and 1mbps package offers. The tech support isn't so bad too. Whenever a customer complained of a service malfunction, TM usually will file a ticket and send an engineer within a day or two if the matter isn't solved. Speed picked up and disconnection seems to be a thing of the past. Well, for major cities anyway. There are still complaints from customers that lived in sub-urb area and remote area that are supposed to be under Streamyx coverage
We can't have everything, and this is what TM Net had to offer and fulfilled. It's the best as it could get.
