Stress is a part of our everyday lives and has been since time began. Not all stress is bad and sometimes it can be a positive influence. Stress can motivate a person into action and help them to achieve goals. But if the influence of stress is negative, stress can cause a person to feel overwhelmed, angry and depressed. Further, a person feeling overwhelmed by stress can develop health problems such as headaches, insomnia, heart disease, and high blood pressure. People can also experience a lot of stress during happy times in their life such as being awarded a promotion as work, or getting married of having another addition to the family. Learn to Manage Stress
You don't need to get rid of stress, you just need to learn how to manage it so that it doesn't become too overwhelming. A little bit of stress can help you with job performance, competing in sports and accomplishing your goals. To prevent the build up of stress, try meditation. The benefits are often immediate and life changing. Begin by sitting in a comfortable position with your feet flat on the floor and your hands in your lap. Meditation in Six Simple Steps
1. The first step is to follow your breathing. If you find that you are getting stressed out, just take a couple of slow deep breaths and notice how it feels as your breath moves in and out of your body. .2. The second step is to focus on your posture. Relax your shoulders and straighten your back. When people are stressed they often slouch.
3. The third step is to let go of any stressful thoughts. Imagine a peaceful scene in nature. You might imagine yourself on a beach or in a meadow.
4. The fourth step is to acknowledge that you are stressed and that you have the capacity to deal with it with grace and calm.
5. The fifth step is to allow this knowledge to penetrate your subconscious mind. Know that you are capable and deserving of all the love, peace and joy the universe has to offer.
6. Finally, ask your subconscious mind to give you a solution to you challenge which will be for the highest good of all concerned. Then relax and let go.
Your Problem Solving Abilities Improve
You will probably find that several minutes or hours later, that either a solution or a new perspective has come to you that you didn't see before. Once you experience this sort of miracle, you will begin to relax more when faced with challenges, knowing that your higher self which you can access during meditation, is by your side. - I agree with Joan... #3 is tough, but must be done to truly meditate. I used to do hatha yoga... think I will start back and incorporate this in my winding down phase. Well done lens and if everyone took the time to meditate... wouldn't our planet be smarter and better all the way around?
