3 Stress Relief Activities
Stress Diary
I do not do this anymore but when I made a decision to stop being such a stress head this was suggested to me and it really helped. Keep a diary of what is stressing you every day but also how you reacted to this stress, how you dealt with it in the end and how it made you feel.
It is amazing how much insight you can glean about yourself when you go back and read these even just a few days later. Being able to get your thoughts and feelings down on paper helps you solidify concepts and problems that might be fleeting and changing when in your own head so I highly recommend doing this.
Exercise
You do not need to become a gym junkie nor do you need to commit to running miles every day to get the stress reliving benefits of exercise. Just 15-30 minutes a day of mild exercise will increase your health but a period of short intense exercise is even better as long as you ae fit enough to handle it.
Short intense exercise that gets your heart racing and your lungs pumping will be good for your health but will also stimulate a release of endorphins in your body which make you feel good and in control and fight against stress.
Another good mode of exercise is yoga which is a very different experience but the stretching aspect of this is great for muscle relaxation too which is a problem when you are stressed.
Laughing!
Seriously. A good laugh is an amazing feeling as we all probably know but it really does benefit you in the stress relief department. I am not sure on the scientific reasons for this, it may reduce cortisol which is the stress hormone or it might have some neurological application but laughing does wonders for relieving stress.
You cant force it though but always take the opportunity to release a good laugh if something is funny, if you are entertained or if you feel good. Watch a funny show, read a hilarious book hang out with friends and family that make you chortle! It is a great way to become less stressed.
